Chapter 50: Final Decision

Zadkiel was sitting on the bed, staring at the wall clock as it ticked the time. As the arm of the clock ticked the second, it was subtracted from Zadkiel’s short span of life that consisted of only a few hours now.

Of course, by now he knew he was immortal and he wouldn’t die exactly but still, the idea of having his heart stopped even for few minutes wasn’t exactly as exciting as it was sounding.

There was a knock on the door. He knew it wouldn’t be Irvin because Irvin wouldn’t knock before entering his own room so he sat up and let out a soft ‘come in’

Abel stepped in giving him a tight-lipped smile before closing the door behind him. He silently made his way to Zadkiel and sat before him on the bed, fiddling with his fingers.

“I couldn’t find peace knowing you are going to do it tomorrow.” He mumbled, looking down at his palms while he spoke. Zadkiel had never seen Abel so much sadness in his life before.
