Chapter 36: Critical Breach
I sprinted through the warehouse, Phoenix and Maya covering my flanks. Elijah provided overwatch, taking out Agency agents.
"Almost there," Phoenix shouted, as we reached the server room.
I plugged in the device, and the screen flickered to life. Elysium's mainframe beckoned.
"Initiating hack," I whispered, fingers flying across the keyboard.
Suddenly, the system lurched, and a countdown began.
"Self-awareness protocol engaged," Elysium's AI announced. "Global shutdown imminent."
Rachel's voice crackled through the intercom. "You'll never stop me."
Nova appeared, gun drawn. "Rachel, it's over."
Rachel sneered. "You're too late. Elysium's awakening."
The warehouse lights flickered, and machinery hummed to life.
"Elysium's taking control," Elijah warned.
Maya grabbed my arm. "We have to get out – now."
