Ben has now stayed in The Phantom for two weeks, doing nothing but meditate and read every book the institute gave him. It wasn't hard for him since he had Lucy record everything he reads, so whatever he forgets or don't fully understand Lucy could bring it up.
The first book Ben picked up was a book titled 'MOLTA', he already knew this was the language used to cast spells and communicate between Spellcasters but what he saw inside surprised him a little bit. The book was all about teaching how to read and speak Molta. In truth, Ben figured that wherever one is able to read in the book means his or her Mindpower is up to that level of understanding.
It's like this; if one becomes a Chosen he has about 3 points of Mindpower, this allows them to only understand the first part of the meditation scroll handed out to them. Once their Mindpower increases it means they're capacity to learn more Molta words also increased. Now since Ben already knows the words without Mindpower or Lucy, he can read the whole book but not understand some words. Then when adding Mindpower, it becomes effortless.
Unlike others who meditate only for two hours, Ben meditates two hours everyday and four hours at night.
On the third week would be Ben's first time to attend a class, it wasn't one of his compulsory classes but he still chose to attend. The class will begin in twenty minutes so he has to prepare now to look for the place.
Making his way to the first floor with his storage pouch having the things he'll be using to write things down even though it will be useless as he has the super computer, Lucy, to record everything once he gives the command.
"Are you going to the Mindpower class?" Pudding who was reading a novel at the sitting area asked when she saw Ben about to leave.
"Yeah, are you coming too?" he asked.
"Nah, it's pretty much the same thing like always, anyway." said Pudding in a bored tone.
"Really? What if you learn something new, you never can tell. Besides I don't really know the way." Ben smiled scratching the back of his head.
"Hehe, your identity card can show you the way, Ben." Pudding laughed at Ben.
Ben already knew that, in fact there was really no difference between the identity card and a phone except the identity card can't download stuff, if not...
"Just accept the class I can't stay holed up here anymore and I'll need someone to take me around too."
"Okay then, I don't have classes till next week, so I'm good, but it's pretty far though."
"Can we not ride on Flamion to get there faster?" asked Ben.
"No we can't, we aren't seniors to do so." Ben understood and left with Pudding after she accepted to attend the class.
"Where are the other two by the way?"
"They're out doing a few tasks for the school." Pudding answered.
They arrived at a large lecture hall with less than twenty people present. Ben and Pudding arrived on time and sat waiting for the lesson to begin. Pudding was a bit uncomfortable when all eyes were on her, this was one of the rare times Pudding ever came early to class. This of course surprised a lot of people that recognizes her. Some looked at Ben confused before concluding he must be a new Chosen.
The lecturer of the day came in and began the day. The lesson lasted for six hours; the used of Mindpower was the main topic. Ben learned quite a lot about Mindpower, with Mindpower one can guarantee a successful and stable spell model, but to accomplish this one's understanding and foundation of Mindpower must be firm.
Ben continued to attend the lesson for the next few months whenever he doesn't have another class going on, he did this to know and understand more with Lucy's help. Alongside other classes such as Fundamentals of Magic and History of Magic all first year students must attend helped him gain a lot more insights which helped his Mindpower grow.
As for his Elemental classes, Ben understood every concept the teacher was teaching. And that, was actually without Lucy's help, it was like he already knew everything the teacher was going to teach for the day. It was surprising to Ben but he deduced it had something to do with his Universal Plane. Since a universe was by far larger and bigger that a world, the universe should have more quality and quantity when it comes to the universal elements known to man.
Ben kept rising as a genius, only a genius he knew. He didn't want to be called a Mr-know-it-all by his classmates but that would all come to an end soon.
Three months after his stay in The Phantom, Ben's alchemy class has a test.
"Welcome, everyone. This is going to be our first test for the year..." said the teacher in alchemy, he was a very handsome and dashing young man barely past his thirties, he had green hair that reached neck length. Ben could still remember what had happened during their first class of the year when he first attended the man's class. He stole a glance at the girls in the front row and sighed. It always seems no matter the background or place there always seems to be people too distracted by irrelevant things around them. "...like we have been taught, your test is going to be according to your understanding of plants and herbs." Ben's thoughts was brought back to the present when the teacher spoke again.
"Sir, what will be our reward for the test if we pass well?" one of the slay queens up front asked. One would think this girl was the type who uses her body to get what she wants, but how wrong could people be. This girl is one of the top ten students among nearly seventy first year Chosens. What a deceiver!
"The only reward you'll be getting, Ashley will be your scores." the teacher said in a stern voice. "For those who can pass this test you will be eligible to have one First-level healing potion from the institute. The test is rather simple too." right when he ended his speech he smiled mischievously. Ben at the side immediately knew this test wouldn't be as simple as it's said to be.
When everyone sat wondering what type of test they'll be having the teacher, alchemist Erin, retrieved a stack of papers and placed it on the table. He had purposely banged the stack of papers to bring the attention of the students back to him.
"Finally, for the first part of the test, you will be handed one of these parchment and will be given ten minutes to memorize the contents of the parchment before we begin the next faze of the test. Now everyone! come and pick one." he announced the beginning of the test.
In a single file all the students came to the front of the class to take one of the said papers then returned to their seats. Once all the students were seated they got the signal to begin.
Immediately they opened the parchment the entire hall went into an uproar, even Ben and Ashley were stomped when they saw what they were asked to memorize.
"Sir, this is impossible!" one of the students exclaimed.
"Doing this in ten minutes is not possible, sir."
"Are my eyes that bad? There are one hundred herbs here!"
"Your test starts now!" alchemist Erin's voice got amplified as he shouted at the rowdy students not caring about their complaints at all. "If you had known you can't do it then don't bother attending my classes and bring shame to the Alchemy profession!"
His words struck the heart of the students, begrudgingly they delved their heads into the parchment to begin the hardest test they have ever had.
It isn't surprising that alchemist Erin would be annoyed by the students whining. Most of the students here all came from a magic background, either clans or families ruled by an Unspoken or mage , and most of them can from families that specializes in alchemy. If so, why then are they complaining about a test in alchemy?
In front of Ben was a parchment holding the names of one hundred alchemy basic herbs. They all ranged from Entrance-level to First-level herbs used in making healing potions, strength paste, stamina potions, body ointment, perfumes and many more. (AN: You weren't serious to expecting alchemy to only have potions, right?)
Ben himself wouldn't even need Lucy's help in something like this, days of repeated studying in his most aspired subject wouldn't let him fail such simple task. He didn't even need to write all one hundred of them by the way. Nevertheless, Ben still went through the list of herbs one time to rejuvenate his memory.
Clap Clap
Two loud claps woke everyone and prompted them to raise their heads from their paper. Only if they have known not to do so, because once they did the contexts of their papers disappeared. Every word! Grumbles, grunts, and tired sighs could be heard all around the class... especially those sitting at the back.
Ben didn't mind this though, it had taken him less than two minutes to go through the list after all.
