Chapter 11: 11 My Destiny

Silence. Complete silence fell between the two. If a pin were to drop on the floor at this moment it would be heard. Ben's eyes were red and this hurt Old Williams a lot. But that was how life was, you always wouldn't get what you want even if it was right in front of you, right? No. At times you must take what you want whenever and however you get the chance.

Old Williams was about to say something but was cut off by Ben. "Father, I have made up my mind, and since I and Anna have become Chosen's with our rings at hand, we have decided we would like to be wizards, and I would like, father, that you not be an obstruction to our... my destiny. If your problem is funds then I understand, that is why I will be taking care of myself in my path in wizardry, you no longer need to worry about me." This was his chance and he would never let it go. Ben's eyes although red became filled with determination.

"*Sigh* you are just like your mother. She never gave up, you know," Straightening up on his seat he continued "alright Ben, I will not deny you your dream, yet, but for now you will have to be very careful, as those who are after you will not stop but come in stronger forces."

Ben was relieved that the old man didn't let him down. When Lord Williams saw his son calming down and happy at his decision he too broke down that poker face with a smile.

"I'm glad you're happy. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some things to take care of." Old Williams was happy as long as Ben was happy. He could finally breath in relief knowing Ben is safe. Well, for the time being.

Ben was extremely thrilled with his father accepting who they are. It was really rare for anyone in that matter to turn down such an opportunity and gift to be something better, something great so blatantly. Ben left his old man to himself and went to his room. It wasn't like he had anything better to do at the time. At the edge of the king size bed in his room Ben sat facing the balcony. He just sat there doing nothing, and worse yet, his mind was just blank. He didn't want to think, or maybe he just couldn't.

From falling off a tree then dying. To being transported to medieval Europe where there's magic, and luckily for him there's no Salem Witch Trials or whatever. Then fortunately being brought back to life in the body of a rich young master Benjamin. While unfortunately having hitmen on his tail for just less than two days in this new world. Some people would have both mental and psychological break down in a matter of minutes if they were the ones. Life for Ben wasn't a straight path but more like a rollercoaster. After sitting listless for some time light finally shone in his eyes. Ben had decided, he will live this life to the fullest, and no one was going to take it away from him.

"Lucy, are you there?" Ben asked somewhat thinking 'Lucy wasn't real' just after two seconds of waiting "hmm, I guess it must have been my imagination." immediately his voice fell he heard those familiar female mechanical voice.

"Sorry for the delay, is there anything you want me to do?" Ben was over joyed knowing that he hadn't been imagining it.

"Yes, there is. You had me activate Combat Mode making me take on five people and even predict their next moves, how?" This was a question that had been bothering him since last night.

"We are merged into one body where I reside in your brain allowing me to override your mind and control your body only when you give me access to do so. However this function has its drawbacks.

"What are these drawbacks?" Ben had to ask since Lucy stopped talking for some time. A computer is always a computer no matter how advanced.

"Once I override your mind and take control of your body for a certain amount of time your connection to your body will be severed. Scientifically, your mind will enter an indefinite state of death where common criteria that make you human such as thinking are gone. In concept to astral understanding, your soul will fall into Limbo. In other words your soul will enter an endless cycle of nothingness for eternity, which leaves me to take full control of this body."

"HOLY F*CKING SHIT!!" Ben who was calm and peaceful not so long ago started swearing like a madman. The image of a well mannered young noble was shattered at this instance. Lucy's words thunderstruck Ben who sat on his big luxurious bed. Calming for a bit after throwing a tantrum in his room, he stopped and asked, "how long is a certain amount of time?"he certainly would want to know what he's dealing with.

"Approximately 168 hours before your connection will be severed and I take over your body." Lucy replied rather coldly.

Ben did a quick bath then totally collapsed on the bed, breathing out a very, very long breath of relief he had no idea he held, he figured that in order for Lucy to be a able to completely take over his body after he is to lose his connection she would have to be in control of his body for a total of seven days in a row. He couldn't imagine being lost in nothingness. It was like falling but never landing anywhere in an entirely black tunnel full of... nothing. Feeling better he won't be losing his mind to a robot stuck in his head, he decided to learn more about Lucy.

Three hours later, Ben felt he had learned enough, well only whatever Lucy gave since a lot of her functions are still damaged. He took out the old yellowish skin scroll given to him and the other Chosens as a guide for their meditation and read its contents. Some of it he understands, which was only the first paragraph by the way. The rest however, were written in a different language, ancient maybe, that he was sure isn't used in the present time. He believed it to be the same language wizard Shader must have used to speak to the other junior wizards. Ben didn't know why they would distribute items the people wouldn't understand.

*Slap*

Ben slapped himself on the forehead when he suddenly realize why the ancient words looked so familiar. Latin. This was the ancient language spoken by wizards and coincidentally is a language that is widely known in his previous life. And luckily he happens to have been a religious person in his past life. Although not fluent at it, he managed to get a few words out of it.

"You have finally entered the world of wizardry, the world of magic. If you are able to read this text then you have reached the first stage in building your foundation for your mind power. Which means you're ready for the next stage of meditation method but unlike the first text you require some items. You must know, one must not meditate over the time limit our else your spiritual world will collapse together with your mind, then you body withers... "

"Again with the mind collapsing shit." Ben mumbled. Without the help of Lucy who surprisingly knows more than 8000 languages, some of which are even older than Rome itself, Ben wouldn't have been able to read every word. But now the question is, is he able to read the text because he knows Latin or because he truly has reached the first stage in his mind power foundation? "Oh, what the hell. Might as well start from here, right?"

Since his mind powers are a lot stronger than usual, per say, he will take the next step. The next stage in the meditation method were not that far off from the first step but the biggest problem was the items in need for it. Some of them, Ben haven't even heard of before. Well it's not like things for magic would be sold in some local market.

He remembered wizard Shader stating that 'the path to becoming a great wizard is extremely dangerous and filled with obstacles hindering a person and making them choose whether to move forward or stay at where they are, but only those who have determination can decide to move on. One of these obstacles are the limited resources used for training' and so on and so forth. Ben didn't have to be a genius to know that this is one of those obstacles wizard Shader spoke about. It is possible that these object could be found in a market place, with the right eye of course, and other dangerous places, but those who sell it can only be counted in one hand.

Knowing he can't be able to meditate his mind power for now he chose to continue gathering the ice Starfield in his Universal Plane. It is known that a single meditation session would only takes four hours, according to the instructions, Ben on the other hand has two extra hours in store. Six hours in total. Thanks to having a Universal Plane than a spiritual world.

"Ben, Ben are you still sleeping!? wake up already. You know you have to eat something. Mom won't be happy if you don't come for dinner! Ben, wake up." Ben heard banging at the door and immediately recognized the voice. Sandra, Anna's younger sister.

"You know, if these doors were a little bit weaker than it is now you probably would have broken it down with all your banging." Ben came out of the bed and cracked the door a bit open to see the little cute girl outside. She was about five or six and had two ponytails sticking at both sides of her head. "brother, father seems... whoa, why is your room so cold? wait let me in..." Having a strength a bit older than her age or maybe Ben didn't want to drag with a little girl over the door, so Ben let her in. It was worth it to see the shocked expression plastered all over her face right now.

Over the last three hours into his meditation session Ben had made a lot of progress in his Universal Plane. It wasn't much but it was something, why? Because even the outside the world, which is Ben's room, has snowflakes falling on his bed. To the little girl this could only be one thing, magical. Sandra walked around the bed and was touching the fragile layers of frost that was on the bed frame and catching the falling snowflakes from the air above. Then she looked at Ben, hey eyes widened even more.

"Brother, it's... it's coming from you, isn't it?" She asked as she kept staring at the layer of frost that was still on Ben's body.

Ben felt that she had seen enough so he withdrew the ice in his body followed by the snow and ice on his bed. "Yeah, but Sandie, you have to promise me not to tell anyone okay, not even farther. Can you do that for me." Ben asked with a small harmless smile. Fear this 'small' smile people for it is very bewitching.

"But won't father know?" a little hesitant and confused, she wondered why he wouldn't want to tell their dad.

"Well he will, but not now Sandie, I want it to be a big surprise for everyone in the future" Smiling as he bent down to be on the same eye level with her.

"Yes, yes, yes! I knew you were going to be a powerful elemental swordsman someday, even though they've been saying you can't get a seed or you can't nurture it. I always believed in you brother." Sandra rushed forward and hugged Ben tightly. Ben knew, she truly was one of the only ones that ever had faith in him.

"Shh, Shh quite down, remember, no one must know okay."

"Oh, oh yeah, no one must know, my bad."Her face was already flushed red or of excitement and embarrassment while her eyes brimmed beautifully.

"Okay then, what's on the table? I'm starved."Ben laughed ruffling the little girl's hair as they made their way out the room.
