Part of him wanted dessert, too, but he thought he might burst if he did. His face, after clearing the plate, was enough to make Kenna laugh, the first true break from seriousness since they’d reunited. “What?” he called her out on it with a big grin. “The food here is amazing.”

“You probably think all food is ambrosia right now,” she pointed out, poking some of the inedible leftovers with her fork. “I’m surprised you didn’t lick the plate.”
