It was a brilliant and terrifying joy to take Hildie in my chair. One I'd indulged in many times—always focusing and filling away any particularly satisfying mental images to enjoy on evenings we couldn't be together.

As soldiers, even at our ranks, our lives were not our own. We would always face days or nights alone when our duties took us away from each other. And yet, we found those temporary separations only brought us more joy when we reunited.

Now, having her again, taking her as the night fell beyond the windows, plunging into her, listening to her gasp, turning her head to swallow her panting breaths… all of it conspired together to shove my body toward the edge of pleasure too soon, too quickly.
