I gasped and shoved Ash off of me, backing away, gaping.

He leaped to follow, brows high. "Zara, Zara, it's okay. I'm sorry if I scared you. I was just… I can't believe it! Can you? We're home, babe! We're fucking home!"

"Home?" I could barely get the word past my closing throat, but Ash didn't seem to notice my discomfort; he was beaming and clenching his fists in joy.

"Yes!"

He took a step towards me again, but I took a step back, so he turned to look at my apartment, still smiling. "This place is cute! I wondered what your place would look like."

"Ash… how are you here? Is this some kind of magic or something? I mean—"
