~ DAVID ~
The rush of love that rocked through me when Zara was so intent almost broke my control. I almost pushed her back on the bed and kissed her and took her all over again.
But just as my hands twitched towards her, the bells rang again and I was washed in a cold wave that started in my chest and flowed through my body.
"There isn't much time," I said, and even I could hear that my voice was completely devoid of emotion.
Zara's face crumpled. "Isn't much time until what?"
"The people are gathering, and the witnesses. I'm supposed to be marrying Lizbeth in an hour or two… I'm not sure. I don't know how long Stark knocked me out."
Her eyes went wide. "Stark knocked you out?!"
My breath rushed out of me. "Things with me and Stark have been… difficult," I admitted.
Zara frowned harder. "David, what's going on?"
I opened my mouth to tell her—it was reflex to just tell her. But then it struck me.
