The weight of the knife in my hand suddenly felt too heavy, too real. The cold metal pressed against my palm, grounding me in a way that nothing else could at that moment. But as I stared down at the divorce papers scattered across the floor, the reality of what I was about to do settled in with a crushing finality.

This was it. The end.

I never actually imagined this day would come, not like this. All the years of pining for this man and the months of trying to make my marriage make sense, all the hopes and dreams I once had, now reduced to a stack of legal documents and a pen. Tears welled up in my eyes, blurring my vision as they slipped down my cheeks. I felt the knife tremble in my grasp before it finally clattered to the floor, the sound loud and jarring in the silence of the house.

"Do you have a pen?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper, thick with emotion.
