Later that night, I hitched another ride with my brother out to the old house. Leslie was to stay with Mary. Three was a crowd with all Mom’s daughters present.

What was it about family that made them so hard to get along together at times? Some families seemed to meld well together. Others couldn’t be in the same country without killing each other. Families were so complicated. If they didn’t want to get along, they wouldn’t. It was like a marriage in that it took work from both sides.

Sitting on the porch swing again with a cup of tea in my hand, I thought further on my part of family relations. Did I really do my part in the relationships?
