ARES’S POV

I had to talk to Leilani. I needed to tell her everything before Christina had a chance to fill her mind with whatever bullsh*t she wanted to. Leilani was too smart to believe her, but that didn’t mean it wouldn’t create an ounce of doubt in her mind. She hadn’t known me for long, but I hope she trusted me more than she did Christina.

I pulled out my phone and dialed her number. The anticipation and anxiety set in as the call continued to ring. Something about her always seemed to make my heart race and my hands clammy. She was like no other woman that I had ever met and something about that excited me. She excited me.

“It’s Lani. Sorry, I can’t answer your call right now. Leave a message, and I’ll get back to you,” her sweet voice said on the other end of the phone.
