Chapter 17: Training

Harvey had taken Ariel to the fight club to meet Spider. He was in charge of training her; he knew how to fight as he fought in the underground when he wasn’t working on the fight club he could teach Ariel how to fight and Harvey would teach her how to handle a gun they all had one but her. But they first needed to get her up to speed so Jae had taken it upon himself to take her running before and after school before training. Spider smiled Ariel looked exhausted but he simply smiled instead of turning to tell her t go home and sleep it off. He knew Cole would be beyond pissed if he done that. ‘So are we ready Ariel?’

‘As ready as I’ll ever be.’

He nodded.

‘I’ll leave you two to it. I have a fight in an hour I need to warm up.’

‘Sure.’

He kissed her forehead. ‘Wait for me okay. I told Cole I’d bring you home.’

‘Okay.’

He looked at Spider. ‘Don’t be too hard on her ease her into it.’

‘I will.’

He smirked walking away. ‘Follow me.’

‘Aren’t we training in here?’

‘No, in my special training room.’

‘Oh okay.’

‘It’s not a problem is it?’

‘No not at all. I just thought I’d be training with everyone else.’

‘Well you’re not. Don’t worry babe I have everything in my training room trust me.’

‘Okay.’

He smiled taking her hand leading her into the back of the fight club into an basemen where he flicked the switches on to reveal a large gym which had the complete replica of upstairs: weights, punching bags, boxing ring, mats and all sorts of training devices. ‘Right we need to do some stretches first before we begin to loosen al loud those muscles.’ He looked at her. ‘You ready babe?’

‘Yeah.’

He smield and they went into the mats. ‘We’ll be doing combat training to but one step at a time so let’s get on with this.’

She nodded.

He done a few stretched she followed him once they were done. ‘Right take your stance.’

She loked at him questionably. ‘A fighting stance Ariel I’ll show you but you have to do the oppiste okay so we don’t mirror each other okay.’

‘Okay.’

He took his stance remember what he said her stance was different. ‘Right now punch me.’

‘What? She said shocked.

‘Punch me.’

‘No no I can’t.’

‘You can Ariel punch me okay I need to know how to train you and I need to know your weaknesses, so I can strengthen them.’

‘Okay.’

‘Now punch me as hard as you can.’

She nodded clinching her fists. ‘You won’t hurt me Ariel jsut let all your anger go.’

Boy you are so wrong.

Her fist shot forward he stumbled and gained his stance her other fist shot forwrd she stumbled again almost landing on his ass.’ So how was that?’ She asked grinning.

‘Fuck princess, where the fuck you learn to punch like that?’

‘A friend. I don’t see him anymore.’

‘I see.’

God she missed Rushton they were friend since Primary they’d practically grew up togehter then they got sepersted when they went to different highschools she often thoght about him and wondered how he was.

Spider clicked his fingers in front of her. ‘Hey princess you okay?’

‘Yeah sorry. I just zoned out.’

‘It’s fine shal we continue?’

‘Yeah let’s.’

He smiled pulling on the punching gloves. ‘Right on going to use these for a while so you can get use to using both of you hands to punch and so you can concentrate on your stance and moving around okay?’

‘Okay.’

‘Ready?’

‘Yeah.’

‘Go for it princess pour all you anger out but just remember move with me not against me okay.’

‘Okay.’

He smield. ‘Now.’

She punched the punching gloves several times, as he moved around. She followed her stance altering to keep up with him and the punches she was landing.

‘Good princess keep going you’re doing well.’

She continued her arms tyring. ‘Let’s call it a night princess and we’ll use the boxing ring next time one on one okay.’

O-Kay.’ She replied nervously.

‘Don’t be so scared princess, I won’t hurt you. I’m just going to check your strengths and your weaknesses.’

She nodded.

He tore the gloves off throwing them down. ‘Come on let’s go and wait for Harvey his fight should be finishing soon.’

‘We’ve been in here that long?’

‘We have come on.’

He opened their door leading her out he took her hand leading her back upstairs to the fight club where it was rowdy, smelling of booze and cigarettes whist the crowd were cheering the two males in the ring.

Harvey walked over to Spider and Ariel after he;d showered and changed. ‘So how did she get on?’

Spider grinned. ‘She’s got a mean right hook and left come to think of it.’

‘So she did well?’

‘Better than well, at this rate she’ll be as good as the fighters and we’ll have to put her in the cage!” He laughed.

Harvey frowned at him. ‘I don’t think Cole will like that idea.’

‘Joke Harv lighten up.I’m not that fucking stupid.’

‘Glad to hear.’

He looked at Ariel. ‘So are you ready to go?’

‘Yeah.’

‘We’ll see you tomorrow night Spider.’

‘You sure will rest up babe you’ll need it.’ He laughed.

‘She will.’

‘Night angel.’

‘Night Spider.’

‘Harv.’

‘Cole.’

He winked at her as her and Harvey walked away he’d have to ask Rushton what he’d taught her so he knew waht to expect.

‘So what was all that about?’

‘Nothing.’

‘He don’t call a girl angel for nothing.’

‘I don’t know okay it’s the third different name he’s called me tonight.’

‘What else has he called you?’

‘Babe and princess.’

‘You best keep that to yourself or Cole won’t let you train with him again.’

‘I will.’
