"Don't tell me... You're that waste, Alex." The elder's eyes widened with surprise.
'There's no way I'm just overthinking this, right?' He obviously couldn't believe that the handsome man in front of him was the Alex that was on his mind.
"I am that, Alex," Alex spoke in a cold tone, staring at the elder with an icy expression.
The elder was so taken aback by what he heard that he didn't even notice Alex's tone.
'How dare you call me a waste! You are a waste.
Your entire family is a waste!
If you weren't stronger than me, I would have punched you to death.' Alex sneered inwardly, his cold glare remaining fixed on the elder's face.
Alex scanned his status as soon as he approached him.
[Name: Lin]
[Age:100]
[Cultivation Level: Qi Gathering Realm Stage 2]
[Element: Fire]
After noticing Alex's cold stare, the elder named Lin turned to face him and opened his mouth.
"Impossible!" he exclaimed out loud, drawing the attention of everyone in the hall. Elder Lin immediately tried to contain the situation after noticing what he had done.
"I'm sorry, I was just taken aback by what I heard." He gathered his thoughts and continued.
"What brings you here?" he inquired of Alex.
Alex took a deep breath and replied, "I'm here because I wanted to choose a weapon."
"A weapon?" Elder Lin raised an eyebrow.
"What do you mean?
You know that only a cultivator can use at least a mortal-grade weapon."
"I understand, Elder, that is why I am here; I want to select a weapon because I am a cultivator."
"What?!
Perhaps my hearing is failing as I get older; I thought you said you were a cultivator." Elder Lin laughed.
Alex stood there, staring at the old man, unsure of what to say. Was him being a cultivator that shocking?
Elder Lin's laughter drew the attention of everyone in the room.
"What exactly is going on?"
"What made Elder Lin laugh?"
"Who is this guy standing beside him?" People began asking each other questions, and some approached Alex and Elder Lin, who were standing together.
Alex frowned as he noticed the people approaching them; he didn't want to draw attention to himself.
As a result, he acted quickly and removed something from his storage ring.
"Take this, Elder Lin." Elder Lin, who was still laughing, instinctively caught something Alex tossed to him. As he looked at the object in his hand, Elder's laughter ceased, and he looked at Alex in surprise.
Elder Lin couldn't believe his eyes when he saw a red token with a golden dragon's head engraved on it.
He was speechless because he knew exactly what the token meant. He looked at Alex again, but this time his face was serious.
"Are you serious?" He spoke in a low voice. Alex only nodded, which was enough for him to realize Alex was not joking.
"Cough," he coughed, tilting his head to face the approaching crowd with a cold gaze.
"What are you looking at?" he asked, his voice deep and almost menacing.
Hearing his tone, the others took a step back and exchanged nervous glances.
"Everyone should go back to doing what they were doing!" Everyone who approached them quickly left, not wanting to further enrage Elder Lin.
Now that they were alone, Elder turned to Alex and said, "Follow me." He turned and walked into the sword hall.
Alex followed without hesitation from behind.
Alex was stunned as he entered the sword hall.
"Wow..." Longswords, shortswords, broadswords, sabers, katanas, and many other swords hung on the walls of the hall. The sharpened steel display filled the hall with a sense of power and mystery, and all the weapons were low-grade mortal weapons.
Alex followed Elder Lin deeper into the hall until they came to a halt in front of a wooden door. Elder waved his hand, and a key materialized in his grasp.
Elder Lin piqued Alex's curiosity,
'What is he up to?
And shouldn't I pick a weapon?" Alex mused to himself, but he continued to follow Elder Lin because he was curious about what he would do.
His attitude shifted after he handed Elder Lin the token given to him by his father, about which he hadn't given much thought at first.
After opening the door, Elder Lin walked inside and beckoned for Alex to follow.
He was taken aback by what he saw upon entering. It was a large room with a lot of weapons on display, similar to the other hall he was in, but what surprised him was that all the weapons on display were mid-grade mortal weapons.
He turned to Elder Lin for an explanation, and he was not disappointed when Elder Lin began to explain.
"I'm not sure why the patriarch gave you that token, but I believe he had his reasons; you probably don't know, but you have the right to choose a weapon from the mid-grade category because of this token."
"I can choose a mid-grade weapon," Alex exclaimed with delight; he had never expected his father to allow him to select a mid-level weapon. Even if it was a mortal grade, it was still of great assistance to Alex, who was still in the third stage of body refinement.
The strongest weapon on this continent was a mid-earth-grade weapon, and it was only in the hands of every major clan.
A mid-mortal grade weapon would be difficult to obtain even for foundation realm cultivators.
Alex was overjoyed and excited to have the opportunity to obtain one, as it would give him a significant advantage over his opponents.
'What the hell is the patriarch thinking... giving him a mid-mortal grade weapon?
Even if he could cultivate once more, he should be in the first realm of body refinement.
Well, since the patriarch has decided to give him one, it's not my problem; I should just follow orders." Elder Lin considered.
Alex, on the other hand, was already deciding which sword he would use; he was determined to make the most of the mid-mortal-grade sword he would be using.
