When Skylar finally stood before Claire's door, a sense of urgency gnawed at him, driving him to seek out his mother. 

But before he could even knock, one of Claire's assistants hurried toward him, a look of concern etched on her face.

"Madam has just departed for the main hall with Miss Ciara, Sir," she reported breathlessly, her words sending a jolt of surprise through Skylar.

Furrowing his brows in disbelief, Skylar glanced down at his watch, noting the time with a sense of unease. 

He hadn't expected nearly everyone to converge on the grand hall so early.

Skylar absorbed the assistant's words, a furrow deepening on his brow as confusion clouded his features. 

"I see. Do you happen to know if my dad is around?" he asked, hoping for some clarity.
