"Clyde… you've really returned…" Mervyn's voice, heavy with both tears and relief, pulled him from his reverie.  His words quivered as he hurried toward the Alpha.

In an instant, his arms enveloped Clyde, his embrace reflecting the depth of his longing.

"I've missed you so much… I thought you would never return to us…"

Clyde struggled briefly to shake off the uncertainty that shrouded his features.

He had originally intended to distance himself from anyone in Ryley's absence, but faced with Mervyn's warm embrace and the presence of their son, he found himself acting against his resolve.

He couldn't bring himself to turn away Mervyn, not with Morgan cocooned in his arms.
