The woman in the black veil exhaled a deep sigh as she slowly lowered her arms and held the baby close to her chest, landing another kiss on his temple again. The remnants of warm light in her eyes froze moments before she gestured for the guard to carry out her order.

"Light the fire!"

Soon enough, the man doused the tip of the baseball bat with gasoline then pulled out a lighter to light it up. 

Ryley could feel his breath shorten in no time, his heartbeat pounding like crazy as he shook his head subconsciously, yelling in his terrified voice, "No...! Please, don't...! Don't do it...! Stop it...!"

He tried to stop the man from taking the burning baseball bat closer to the other baby, but he couldn't. The man walked past him as if he didn't exist at all.
