Author's note: This is a canon excerpt from chapter 527 - "Bullet Rain". It's about the time Ryley recuperated in Rock Springs.

The Alpha heaved a deep sigh as he caught his wife pout his lips disappointedly. 

"Fine. But not for too long." he said, glancing at the blond's bandaged leg with his brows crumpled, as if disapproving. "You need to rest properly so you can heal better."

Ryley let out a soft chuckle, squeezing his husband's big palm as the latter helped him walk towards the balcony. 

As soon as the therapists left, he refused to let Clyde carry him to the bed like usual. Not sure why he didn't feel like following his routine today. 

Perhaps it was the strange dream he saw when he fell asleep reading some books before his therapy this afternoon, or the nightmares—ones that kept coming to him in the last several days—he was yet to tell Clyde.
