Chapter 4: Anger

"Now's not the time, you guys," I interjected in hopes of making them shut up.

"How can I tell them when that damned werewolf died two days ago. They'd kill me—they'd kill us all," Amy whispered angrily, completely ignoring my suggestion.

Her voice was trembling as if she was crying underneath the strong and confident facade that she kept up.

Asuka and I froze in disbelief.

"H-how?" Asuka stuttered, sniffling here and there as she tried to calm herself.

"Sanders and I made a mistake when we tried to extract his—" Amy choked out hoarsely when a deep and horrifying growl cut her off.

My eyes flashed to where I thought the door was, unable to see anything other than black.

Even without my vision, I knew that we are in deep trouble.

"What did you just say?" a deep voice bellowed.

My fingers curled into a fist until I could feel the painful sting of reality as hopelessness sunk in.

I have never felt more terrified in my life.

"I want these sick bitches' dead!" He snarled loudly with extreme resentment and disgust.

I immediately shrivel into myself.

"That's enough, Kent. The Alpha will make the final decision," the Beta said.

I knew they won't kill us yet, but that doesn't mean they won't later. Now that Lucas Hensley was already dead, we were no longer useful to them.

If their Alpha gave them his approval, we would be dead faster than the bat of an eye.

"These bitches killed my brother!" Kent snarled in unconcealed fury.

"Enough!" the Beta exclaimed loudly, his voice literally making my ears pop.

At his order, the enter room went quiet before all of the werewolves shuffled up the stairs again without another word.

Then, we were enveloped in silence for the next few hours since our last conversation basically led to our coming death sentence.

Other than the knowledge of us all dying soon, one question couldn't help but pop into my mind at this very moment—Could I die?

Is it even possible? I've never tested to see if a person, who was unable to age, like me would be able to die. But I doubt that I'm a cat with nine lives.

Who knows what might happen if I decide to test the theory to realize that I'm standing next to Lucifer in the pits of hell?

Suddenly, the floorboards creaked rather loudly before the door keeping us captive slammed open again with an extremely sickening boom of the wood hitting the back wall.

The noise immediately jolts me from self-anger and depression.

"Get up. Now!' the Beta ordered.

I clumsily tried to stand but found that I couldn't.

My legs were numb from sitting for so long on the cold cement and scared stiff from fear of what could happen. Before I could attempt to stand again, big hands grabbed me by my lab jacket. I was yanked to my feet and dragged along.

"Where are you taking us?" Asuka shouted tearfully in anger and I could hear scuffling. My teeth bit down hard onto my bottom lip.

Don't do it, Asuka.

"Shut up, bitch," Kent threatened. The harsh crack of a slap across human flesh made all the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.

My legs felt like they were being attacked by pins and needles. And the pain was terribly hard to deal with.

Pushing through everything, I clumsily, blindly followed the person who was dragging me in hopes of staying alive longer.

As I attempted to move faster, my left leg missed a stair step and I stumbled forward.

The werewolf yanked me back up before my face could hit the wood. All of the werewolves were grumbling in annoyance, obviously angry that we were slowing them down.

Heck, if they would just take these damned blindfolds off, we could walk on our own instead of bumbling after them like newborn fawns. It's not like seeing what they look like is going to matter any.

I scowled.

After a handful of minutes, we reached the top of the stairs and continued to walk until they stopped us.

Almost immediately, chills went down my spine and all the hairs on my body stood on end.

I was shoved to the ground by a werewolf behind me.

And at the sudden force, my left shoulder slammed painfully onto the floor when I fell forward without the use of my arms to catch myself.

Blindly, I raised my head only to have a heavy foot step onto the back of my neck and push me back down.
