Chapter 8: Chapter 08: Rogue Activity

Josiah pretended not to notice her flinch. He let her go. He couldn’t help noticing how pretty she looked.

He took a picture as she looked at the spread he had created, and he had even caught the happily surprised look on her face. He knew it would take some time for her to warm up to him; he had to persevere.

He gazed at her with a thoughtful expression. “You look really good today. These colors brighten up your face and bring out your eyes.”

Mila blushed and shyly looked at the food. “Thank you.” She sat down on one of the stools at the island and grinned with some false bravado. “At least you know greatness when you see it.”

“Who is the blind idiot that doesn’t?” Josiah asked half-serious.

Mila’s mind went to Rowan for a brief second before she rubbed her hands in glee, looking at the food. “What is mine?”

Josiah’s face twitched briefly. “Whatever you want to eat, I made things that I hope you can enjoy, but I didn’t know about the cereals, so I left it open.”
