"Dad, Mom brought a man back. I saw them hugging and kissing each other."
Greg Donnie returned home after getting off work, and his 5-year-old daughter shared this news with him.
The neighbor laughed and joked, "Alice, your mother probably cheated on your father."
"What do you mean?" Alice Donnie blinked and asked.
Greg had a gloomy expression. After the neighbor left, he knelt and said to his daughter, "Alice, go play with the kid next door."
"Okay."
After Alice left, Greg heard panting and moaning as soon as he entered the living room.
He blushed in anger instantly. Then, he grabbed the mop and kicked open the bedroom door.
The men and women inside froze in fright. Clara Donnie hurriedly pulled the quilt to cover her body and asked, "Greg? Why are you back?"
"I guess this is not the right moment."
Greg looked at the man on the bed. He was fat and bald and had a massive belly like a pregnant woman.
Greg was no stranger to him. He was Clara's boss, named Lucas Brown. He had met Lucas a few times when he took Clara off work.
Now that he thought about it, Clara mentioned several times that she was on a business trip with Lucas. However, they probably went to have fun instead of going on a business trip.
Lucas didn't care about getting caught. He said in a provocative manner, "Hey, loser. You're back."
Greg couldn't bear it anymore. He rushed up and waved the mop to beat them.
Clara screamed and ran out of bed in a hurry, cursing, "Greg, are you crazy?"
Greg ignored Clara and vented all his anger on Lucas.
But soon, Lucas grabbed the mop.
He pulled hard, dragged Greg to the front, and knocked him down with a punch.
Lucas was a gangster when he was young, so it was a piece of cake to deal with someone like Greg, who didn't know how to fight.
Greg lay on the ground, feeling that the bridge of his nose was about to break. The blood flowed down his cheeks, and his vision was blurred.
Lucas put on his clothes, kicked Greg a few times, and spat on his face.
"If it weren't for Clara's sake, I would kill you. Do you understand?"
Then, Lucas blew a kiss on Clara.
"Honey, I'm leaving."
Clara said, "Okay, Mr. Brown. Don't forget to take your coat."
Greg came back to his senses after a long while. He struggled to stand up and saw Clara packing her stuff.
Before he could speak, Clara said coldly, "Since you have found out, let's get a divorce!"
Greg smiled bitterly and lit a cigarette.
"Clara, I never expected you to be so ungrateful."
They had been married for five years, and Greg cared for Clara in every possible way. He went to work and was responsible for caring for his daughter and all the housework.
On the other hand, Clara never worried about family matters and always liked to compare herself with those around her.
"We've been married for five years. What kind of life is this? We can't afford high-end restaurants, luxury cars, or big houses. If I were another woman, I would have divorced you long ago."
Clara was full of disdain.
No matter how much Greg hated Clara, he still had feelings for her. Besides, their daughter was still young, so they probably shouldn't get a divorce.
Greg thought about it and decided to abandon the last bit of his dignity.
"Clara, if you agree never to see Lucas again, I can forgive you and pretend that this has never happened."
"Greg, you are so cheap! I've already decided. We will go to the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow. You can have Alice, and I'll take all the money with me."
Greg was extremely ashamed and furious. He never thought that Clara would insist on divorce, even if he had given up his dignity for the sake of this family.
Fine!
Greg growled, "Alright. But don't even think about taking anything away from this family!"
Clara put the bag on her shoulder and shook the card in her hand.
"All the money has always been in my card."
Greg gritted his teeth as he saw her complacent look.
"You bitch! One day, you will regret what you did today, and you will kneel and beg me to forgive you!"
"You're ridiculous."
Clara felt that Greg was probably out of his mind. He was just a loser and had nothing special. How could she come back to beg him?
After Clara left, Greg sat on the sofa and kept smoking gloomily.
When Alice came back, Greg quickly put out the cigarette and helped her wipe off the sweat on her forehead.
"Dad, where are Mom and that man?"
"They left."
"Oh. I'm hungry, and I want to eat."
Greg got up to look for food in the room, and Alice followed behind. However, after searching around, he found they had run out of food.
Clara took away all the savings, and now he had no money.
He tripped and fell to the ground when he turned around, and Alice also fell.
Greg quickly got up to check if she was injured.
There were scratches on her arms. Her eyes went red, and she was about to cry, but she still bit her lip tightly and said, "Dad, I'm fine."
After a series of matters, Greg felt he was about to collapse.
Greg held Alice in his arms and sobbed. "Alice, I promise you. From now on, we will no longer live such a depressing life. I will make you the happiest little princess in the world!"
Then, he made up his mind and dialed the number buried in his contact list for a long time.
When the call was connected, Greg took a deep breath.
"Eden, I want to see you."
