{A/N: Another big chapter.. this time for people that are shipping LuzXKathyln more than with Lilia or Claire.}
[Luz Leywin POV]
I got into the carriage with Kathyln and soon we left Xyrus Academy. We started talking a bit to take away any tension she might be feeling, I know very well what that kind of scenario is.
"This was never meant to be a tour by Xyrus City, she just wants to date me. Her personality has clearly become possessive lately, but at least she doesn't seem to be overreacting." I thought as I let her lean against my arm.
"But still, she's getting to the level of scary love..." My mind replayed the moment when I saw her hugging a plush copy of me a few weeks ago.
"I'd be very careful with her. Seriously, in the future there's a chance she'll be crazy about you to the level of stopping you if you want to leave the same room." I heard Sirius' voice in my mind.
"I know that very well... I already had other girls like this... but she is the daughter of two people who are on the Council of Dicathen. The most I can do is keep her level of love within the ordinary." I answered him.
"And what do you mean by that?" my other me asked curiously.
"I'll treat her incredibly well and be very considerate of her. That way, she'll never think about the need to do absurd things just to get my attention." I spoke to the owner of my body, while looking at the scenery in the window.
"Alright, I'm just warning you because... You know, this body was mine originally." his voice sounded like defeat.
"This body is still yours and mine at the same time. When our soul fusion is finished, it will be completely true." I mentally smirked.
"True... But it will take a while, I'm feeling that our current sync is still not perfect... But forget about it and have fun there. I'm going to eat chips." His voice started to get distant, as if he was leaving the main room of the mind realm.
I took a long breath and while the carriage didn't reach its intended place, I activated a sound spell, causing light background music to play. This made Kathy lift her head high and look around confused. I have to admit, it's lovely to see her neutral expression looking for something invisible.
"Relax, it's just a sound spell to pass the time." I warned her, making her calm down and hug my arm again, only now she hugged it without as much firmness as before.
"Thank you..." She said quietly, but I could hear her easily.
After a few minutes, the carriage stopped and the driver opened the door for us to get out. I took a basic look at what was in front of me and my surroundings. From a distance, I could see Xyrus' Central Square, which meant that we were currently in an area for middle-class nobility. In front of me was a sort of entrance to a three-story restaurant with a large sign reading "La União de Sabores" located above us.
"I'll pick you up when you call me, if you decide for some reason to return to Xyrus Academy on foot, let me know anyway." The driver told me, handing me a small piece of paper.
It was a kind of communication scroll, the difference is that it only communicated with ONE specific person, so there was no way to use it to talk to anyone else, just the driver. I turned the paper over to see that there was his name on it, at least we wouldn't forget what name to say when we use this item.
"Thanks." Kathy spoke to the driver who was soon taking the carriage away from us, then she looked at me, saying in a monotone. "We'd better get inside, you must be hungry since you only ate a single cupcake after your morning workout."
"Of course..." I was kind of embarrassed by the way she was concerned for my well being.
We went inside the restaurant, and for what it looked like, Kathyln started to take me to one single and special place there. Soon I saw our table...
"How strange... Usually these tables have four chairs... And on top of that, when you have two chairs, it wouldn't be right to have one on each si—." My thoughts stopped when I looked again at the girl who was with me, it was obvious that she asked in advance for the chairs to be arranged like this, as she always finds a way to hug my arm.
We went to the two chairs, I took the one closest to the window, while Kathyln sat in the one that was the easiest to get away from the table. The waiter who took us here, gave us the menu of the place and I watched it carefully.
"Hmmm... What do you want to eat?" I asked the princess.
"You choose." She said it again in a monotone, not expressing anything on her face.
"Okay. Waiter, we're going to want portion orders. Bring us two servings of rice, one of boiled potatoes, one of grilled carrots, and...." I looked at Kathy and then down to the menu, wondering what else to order for her, but then I had an idea.
"Are you going to want anything else?" The waiter asked when he realized I was in doubt.
"Hmm... Also bring me a bunch of puree and one of those 'Steaklicious' you guys have here." I pointed to the name of the item that was on the menu. "For drinks, I'd like you to bring two glasses of ice and a large pitcher of citrus juice. What do you think of that, Kathy?" I asked and she nodded in agreement.
"Fine, I'll bring your orders, they'll be ready in about half an hour at the most. The juices will arrive earlier than that so you don't have dry throats." the waiter said, bowing slightly and walking away from us.
"Luz, that music spell, can you use it?" Kathyln sat up straight in her chair, sitting very politely and looking my way.
"But of course I can." I commented, snapping my fingers and creating a very basic sound barrier around us as I used that spell from before, creating background music that only we could hear.
I had decided on something smoother and cleaner, as we were only here for lunch, so the sound seemed to be composed of stringed instruments like violins and harps, all with a nice harmony to hear, plus the volume was low enough to not interfere with our conversations. She took a long breath and stared in my direction still, meanwhile, my cheeks started to get a little hot and I gave a slight smile.
It didn't take long for our drinks and food to arrive, as I expected, the portions were each made to be individual, but for the amount of portions I ordered, it was enough that we could share it with each other. The most delicious part was the "Steaklicious", it was a large piece of meat that was crispy on the outside while tender and juicy on the inside. By the taste, it was clearly surrounded by a lot of butter when it was prepared, it even reminded me of one of the days when me, Jasmine and Arthur had a barbecue at Beast Gladers, using a "Rockhighs Boar" meat in a Campbluefire.
I had already finished my plate and was watching the window next to me for a while, until Kathyln poked my cheek. "I'm done, let's ask for the bill."
"Okay." I answered her and raised my hand to get the attention of the nearest waiter.
When he brought the bill, I saw that it was just the equivalent of 2 pieces of silver. I was going to pay, but the princess stopped me, pulling my hand to the table as she took 1 gold coin and handed it to the waiter.
"Keep the change." She said with a neutral expression and then started pulling me by the wrist to get us out of there.
"Woah, calm down. Where are we going now?" I asked as I was pulled more by her, we were already walking through the streets again and we came close to a kind of theater.
There was a long line of people waiting to buy their tickets, but the princess, with all her neutrality, passed in front of everyone. I looked at the people there getting confused as to what was going on. Some didn't understand, others recognized her and seemed flattered to have been feet close to her, and others seemed to have a look of envy against me.
No matter what one's social class, people will always be jealous of someone who walks with royalty. Especially when holding hands with the princess of that kingdom, being taken by her.
"Good afternoon, 3 pm reservation, Glayder." Kathyln said objectively to the person at the theater reception, who immediately understood and seemed to call a guard they had nearby.
We were taken to what I could only describe as "VIP's VIP". It was a cozy little room with a little balcony and two chairs. We sat in the chairs and could see the entire theater below us, from the size of the place inside, compared to the outside, clearly part of this building was built below ground.
"I thought this theater only had two floors... But at the height we are.. I'd guess it actually has four." I made a slight comment, Kathy responded by just silently nodding.
"Still, uh... Thanks for bringing me here. Really." I tried to continue the conversation while the play didn't start.
"It was nothing... You deserve it... I deserve it..." She said the last part as a whisper to herself, and I completely pretended not to hear that.
"Ladies and gentlemen!" I heard a very charismatic voice, it made me look towards the theater stage.
There was a person there, well dressed, in a red and orange uniform, the same colors as the theater logo. "Today we will have a special show! The theme of today's show is: A young peasant girl who rises in life little by little, thanks to her hard work, to in the end become a mage with the title of 'Lance'! This story was inspired by the motivational tales that our Human Lance, Zero, told to several of the Kingdom of Sapin's journalists!"
"Hm....? So it's something inspired by things Kathyln's mentor told the public? No wonder she wanted to come here." I thought, as the girl next to me had a twinkle in her eye.
The curtains on the stage began to open, showing a painted backdrop with some objects on the floor, which represented some things. And finally, the voice of a narrator emerged, as actors gradually appeared, with the flow of the story progressing.
I tried to feign as much interest as possible in that, after all, it was the story of one of the most powerful mages in Dicathen. But at least I could describe this story in one word...
Pathetic....
This story cast the protagonist, in this case Varay/Zero, as an ordinary peasant woman who was inspired by seeing her father working hard. This was a fucking Bullshit. I saw her essence the last few times I was in her presence, she may have a good aura, of someone who cares about others, but...
If this story were true, there would be specific characteristics in her essence, characteristics that could never go away from someone who has had a life experience like the one seen in the story. And how do I know this?
Because I'm an example of history starting like this. My first life was literally me considering myself some failure who could only use equipment fortification magic, but who managed to enter the army as a recruit, and soon after rising through the ranks with the course of the war we were having. And even with all these many years existing, these specific characteristics in my essence, never disappeared and never will. Traits like these are eternal, no matter how much a person displays them or not, no matter how long a person lives.
Varay's essence, at least is categorized as someone who already had everything they ever wanted and didn't go through poverty or social problems, but needed to prove themselves strong so they wouldn't be in the shadow of their parents. That's a type of woman I respect, but still....
The story being told in front of me was clearly false in my eyes.
I felt terrible for Kathyln, she was excited listening to that play, even though her emotions weren't exposed by facial expressions, I saw her essence totally inspired. I know very well that this kind of false story exists only to encourage people to become stronger. But talk of a random peasant becoming the greatest mage of them all at 30 y/o?
I'm sorry, but I don't even tell people that kind of story. Even though these things have already happened to me, my case was because of my rebirths, and in the case of my first life, that was extremely situational and pure luck. I at least say more realistic things like "I was a peasant and I became a royal guard after meeting someone important, by sheer luck." or "I was a weak noble with no battle experience and limited in physical stats, but my correct and honest decisions made fate to make me a great swordsman."
"Are you enjoying the play?" I asked the obvious to the girl next to me.
"Yes. The way they speak is much more charismatic. Mistress Varay told me this story the first day of training we had, but her voice was serious and icy all the time." Kathyln answered me, leaning her head on my shoulder.
"Hm... Did you only hear her tell this story once...? Maybe she was talking that way because it was the first time you two met. You already know each other a lot, why don't you ask her to tell you this story again?" I patted her head.
"Why?...."
"Because maybe she doesn't have a cold, icy voice when she says it again." I said this and she looked at me dumbfounded.
"I'm serious." I continued my comment, wanting to cheer her up a bit and make her not realize that I was bored with our date.
"Okay, maybe I'll try it next time I see her." She responded by hugging my left arm.
It would have been a while before the play finally ended, everyone stood up and applauded. I have to admit, their performance was great, considering what actors in a generic medieval world would be like.
Me and Kathyln got up and walked out of the theater. Several people kept moving away from us, giving us space to walk, clearly because they realized they were in the presence of someone of royalty. We walked for a few minutes, through extremely chic streets, of course, we entered the high class area of the city.
The looks around us were now one of extreme surprise, envy and disgust. I even understood the surprise and envy, but at first I didn't understand why the disgust, until I looked carefully at the clothes of other boys on the street and compared it with my clothes. Even though my outfit was elegant to walk with the princess, it was still a choice of accessories that didn't fit at all for someone considered high class.
Kathyln noticed the looks that went my way and not hers, as if I were a target. So to make me forget about it, she apparently hugged me tight on my left arm and continued to guide me towards a nearby square.
Arriving there, were very few people, it was calmer and more peaceful, but I could feel the air full of selfishness and eccentricity of the people who live around. At least, that place was very beautiful, with several trees and shrubs pruned, a path made of a white material that resembled quartz, and floating artifacts that seemed to be magical lighting points, strategically positioned to illuminate the entire square in a charming way when the sun started to set.
We walked a little until Kathyln asked if we could stop, then we sat on a bench near us. She again hugged my arm and leaned her head on my shoulder, closing her eyes a little.
"It's nice weather, isn't it?" I asked and she just nodded silently.
The weather was slightly icy, but not so much, after all, it was autumn, with a calm and light breeze touching our faces. I noticed two leaves from a nearby tree falling on my nose, making me sneeze and as a result, Kathy giggled. why? because my sneezes were "lovely" according to mother Alice.
We stayed there a little longer and I noticed the sky turning orange, showing that the sun was starting to set and that it is probably 6 pm. Not long after the sky turned that color, the lighting fixtures scattered across the square began to glow. And with that, I gave Kathy a little shake, as I had noticed that she slept leaning against me.
"A-ahn...? AHN?!?! I slept!?!" she showed such confusion that I was even surprised by the fact that she could express extreme feelings, but after seconds, her face returned to neutrality.
"Yes, you slept... Sorry I didn't wake you up, you were so cute." I replied and her cheeks slightly flushed, but she remained neutral still. "Do you have anything else prepared for us?"
"Actually... I booked a restaurant in this part of town for dinner..." She kept rubbing her sleeve over her eyes and putting her hand to her face, casting a light ice spell to wake her up completely, with the cold of the magic itself.
"Okay, let's g—" I suddenly stopped talking, noticing something strange watching us, I turned my face away, but I couldn't see anything, at least with my ordinary eyes.
I activated my essence vision, and the whole world went gray for me, with lots of little colored glows around me. Due to the range of my ability being huge, the little sparkles were people far away, possibly even in another neighborhood.
I looked at Kathy, seeing a pleasant, calm aura about her, I can't explain it, but seeing that aura made me think she was begging to be held. But still, I felt myself being watched, so again I tried to focus my skill only on the square region, and as soon as I noticed a glow coming from one of the trees next to us, there was someone there hiding behind it.
I got up and looked in the direction of that tree. "Is anyone there?" I asked, but no one answered and the aura behind there didn't move, Kathyln was confused by the way I acted.
"I won't repeat.... Who's behind the tree?" when I said that, I pointed in the direction of the mentioned tree, the princess trusted my instincts and got up, quickly taking a kind of wand
"Heh... What a smart commoner..." A voice came out from behind the tree and soon a person appeared there, it was a boy in Xyrus Academy's Battle Mage uniform, he was clearly a human, due to the height of 1, 70 and the fact that he doesn't have pointy ears. "I still can't believe that someone like you is here..."
"What are you doing here, boy?" I said, still pointing my finger in his direction, Kathyln seemed to hold onto her wand, possibly due to the choice of words the boy said.
"I should ask YOU that, little commoner... Does your miserable, filthy blood have the courage to breathe the same air as us?" he was smiling a sadistic smile, his eyes wide and glazed over me, but then he looked at Kathyln. "What about you, princess? Lowering yourself to the level of someone like him?... A disgusting, filthy commoner, who, on top of that, is sympathetic to the wild races?"
"Wild... Races....?" She looked at him confused, but clearly the way he described me was making her angry.
"Are you talking about elves and dwarves?... Well, as far as I know, we humans are inferior in the art of metal, magma and plants. No?" I tried to retort, lowering my arm and glaring at that guy seriously, my voice going slightly friendly, it wouldn't be good to start a fight, especially since I'm on a date right now.
"No... We are superior to everything, but don't put yourself in the same group as me or the princess... You are complete garbage. We have superiority over everything, because these savages are our servants..." The eyes his were already wide open and soon I noticed veins appearing on his face, my first reaction was to put my hand in front of Kathyln and put her behind me to protect her.
"Don't touch the princess... Don't contaminate her with those LOWER germs of yours!!!!" he yelled, lunging at me.
From one of his sleeves, he took out a classic assassin's dagger and seemed to imbue it with water mana. Is that motherfucker really thinking he's entitled to this, or what?!?!
"Wind Whip." I activated a wind spell, at the same time I activated the whip form of my MW gem, the whip was covered in wind mana and I attacked him with mastery.
The whip went towards the wrist where he carried the dagger, curling tightly there, I made a quick movement still holding my whip, and his hand went towards the floor, digging his dagger into the floor. He gave a scream of hate in my direction.
"WATER BLADE!" His other hand turned into a large blade made of dense water and he soon raised that blade high into the air to attack us.
"Kathyln, immobilize him!"
"Ice Spikes!" Kathyln followed my command, creating spikes of ice around that crazy student, possibly immobilizing him. But something unexpected happened.
Before he was completely trapped amidst the ice spikes, he made a blow using his water blade, but it didn't go towards us, it went towards himself. He hit his own wrist, ripping off his right hand and thereby freeing himself from my whip. Still in an almost inhuman movement, he seemed to take a very high leap backwards, thus escaping the princess's spell.
"W-what?!?" Kathyln exclaimed, her voice trembling at the sight of someone suddenly ripping their hand off to escape that makeshift prison she had tried to create. "D-do we need to call for backup?!?"
"Relax... He only wants me, and besides, you know how strong I am, I can take it." I said to the princess, not wanting to bring more people into an issue involving a racist stalker.
"B-but—" Before she could continue speaking, she looked startled and pointed up. "L-Look out!!"
I looked up, just to see a ball of water falling on my head and staying there, completely surrounding my skull. It was strange, that water was incredibly dense, it even seemed solid, but it still felt liquid, from trying to enter my body through my nose.
I couldn't hear the princess, as my ears were also covered, but anyway, I looked in the direction of the crazy student, who seemed to laugh and squeeze his remaining hand, making my vision blur.
"This bastard is making the water so thick that I can't get out of it." I thought, while at the same time I did a wind spell, creating an internal protection on my neck, so that the water wouldn't advance into my lungs or stomach.
That situation was bad, I only had a little time to get that thing out of my head, since I hadn't taken a deep breath before. Luckily, I still had the essence vision, I could "see" that Kathyln was casting some spell in his direction, while he was just dodging.
I started to move towards him, just seeing the silhouette provoked by his essence, he probably thought I was running in a random direction and I wouldn't hit him.
He thought wrong.
Suddenly, my whip was gone and my gauntlet popped into place, imbuing it with wind mana. I punched him hard in the stomach area, the wind mana made him fall back a few meters. Unfortunately, that punch wasn't enough for him to lose focus and the water sphere in my head to disappear.
Without being able to hear his possible villainous and surprise monologue, I noticed him advancing against me again using that water blade, while ice mana spikes appeared behind him. It was probably Kathyln trying to stop him from getting to me.
"I didn't want to use that, but it's really hard to hold my breath and I didn't want to destroy this part of the square." I thought, seeing no alternative.
I activated my AOE fire spell: Dante's Inferno.
From my mana core came an absurd amount of fire mana, which expanded like a dome around us. Just by my head entering this dome, the water that was choking me disappeared evaporating instantly, while Kathyln's Ice Spikes and the lunatic's Water Blade, also evaporated. As a result, the plants inside the dome dried up absurdly, giving a slightly dead appearance.
"For an evaporation like that I needed half my mana core in this AOE spell... How was his water magic so strong?!?" I thought, as I cracked my own neck, I noticed those big veins pulsing hard, not in his face, but all over his body.
"They injected him with excess mana..." I spoke quietly, with him looking extremely confused as all of his water spells evaporated, and he shouted the name of more water spells, but none of them activated.
"How?!? How can an INFERIOR destroy my spells before I cast them?!? THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE! THEY TOLD ME IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE!" He continued to scream in rage, his face expressed as if he were an animal angry at the hunt being delayed.
"They....?" Kathyln spoke with disgust at that guy, but at the same time interested in who he might be talking to, well, I know who "they" are.
"Sorry... But the Leywins are the most powerful commoner family in the fire element." the term 'most powerful commoner' being greatly exaggerated in wording, thus making him more angry and broken.
"Luz... Should we call someone?" Kathyln said as I pressed the crazy student's body against the floor using my foot.
"I don't think we need to, and I don't feel like there's anyone else like him watching us." I said smiling, as my right hand fills with wind mana.
"Frequency Touch." My right hand began to vibrate intensely and I held the crazy student's head for a few seconds, the vibrations ended up making him faint right there. With that done, I deactivated Dante's Inferno, but kept my left hand aflame, using the fire spell to cauterize the boy's severed wrist.
"We need him alive to understand what happened, don't you agree?" I looked at Kathy, who nodded.
"Then we have to take him to Xyrus Academy... I still had dinner planned..." She said sadly as she approached the fainted boy.
"Oh, why are you a little sad and upset? Well... what time did you book our dinner?" I asked, looking into her eyes.
"Hm... For like 7:30 pm, why?" She tilted her head.
"It's still dusk, so we have a maximum of an hour and a half to get to Xyrus Academy and then we can get back to the things you've planned. I think I can make it all the way in 20 minutes." I said smiling.
"I see... Well, you still have that driver, don't you?" She reminded me of that detail, and I gave her a big smile, already planning something.
"So how about I let Cynthia know what happened, while you tell the driver to come here and get this 'uninvited guest' to Xyrus Academy to talk to the Director?" I smirked.
"But how would you contact Director Goodsky?" She tilted her head again, and I showed her a communication scroll that Cynthia gave me before, for emergencies.
"Cynthia Goodsky." I spoke into the open scroll and after a few seconds, her face appeared.
"Luz? Using that scroll at a time like this? What happened? Wanting tips on what Princess Kathyln likes?" She said maliciously, meanwhile, Kathyln herself was red-faced to hear that.
"Well, something did happen, it's slightly related to the date, but it's not a nice thing. And how did you know I was going to be with Kathy?" I asked, with a raised eyebrow and keeping my seriousness.
"Because she had to ask her mother to leave Xyrus Academy with her friends, who do you think brokered the conversation between them?" She smiled.
"I see. But getting back to the reason I was talking to you. A racist student was apparently stalking Kathyln and I. He came to us and tried to attack me using lethal magic." When I said that, Goodsky's expression changed from playful to extremely serious.
"Were there any extreme consequences? Was there anyone else besides the student?" the Director asked.
"We are in one of the squares in the noblest area of Xyrus City. I used a sensory ability of mine, there was only him nearby and watching us. Regarding any consequences of this event, Kathy and I are fine, but the student had his right hand severed." I said, still maintaining my seriousness.
"Severed hand?! Boy did I say you could be harsh! But this is EXTREME!" she exclaimed.
"My attacks were all intended to immobilize him. He ripped off his own hand after I pinned it to the ground using a whip that I have as a reserve battle item." I explained, and she seemed to calm down a bit, it seemed that what made her the most nervous was not an injured student, but the possibility that I was causing a near-lethal injury to a student.
"Could you show me who the student is?" she asked and I tilted the parchment so she could see the crazy boy passed out on the floor.
"Hm... Apparently he's Sullyvan Joyt. He's a fifth grader, did you see if he has 'that'?" When she asked, I already understood very well what it was, Cynthia only said 'that' because Kathy was listening to our conversation.
"Kathy, can you call that driver? Let him know about the situation and that we just want him to take this boy to Xyrus Academy." I said throwing her the small paper that the driver from earlier gave us, she agreed and walked away a little to talk to him without interrupting my conversation with Goodsky.
With her a little farther away, I unzipped the boy's clothes and looked at his back, seeing a set of runes running vertically down his back. "Yes, he has 'that', Cynthia."
She took a breath so deep, I feel like she's here with me and not communicating through a scroll. "Oh my god... Anyway, what was his motivation to attack you anyway?"
"He started off talking like I was trash sympathetic to inferior races, a dumb commoner and stuff like that. According to him, 'they' said his spells were invincible for having the runes. I managed to undo the attacks.. But I was forced to use an AOE spell that used up half my mana core... I'm a light yellow mage, Cynthia! This is absurd!" I returned to give the details of what happened, commented a little on some other details, like the fact that his water magic can get dense enough to invade someone's body and temporarily blind the enemy.
Cynthia answered me in a scared way. Apparently, Sullyvan Joy, was a boy considered "slow" in advanced forms of magic, managing to adapt to upperclass subjects just by using simple water spells. That meant it wasn't just the excess mana that rune gave him, he also received some training that was never recorded in the academy.
Another thing I was told was that Sullyvan was the youngest son of two noble craftsmen, who were high class because of the great level of wealth they had, compared to noble families specializing in elite mages and weaponry. It is not known exactly how this wealth was gained, some people theorized that they somehow aided in the Human-Elf war that took place several decades ago, and others think that, behind the scenes, they are intermediaries in the sale of slaves of the three races.
No matter what, both theories cast this family against including other races in Sapin. So him using that as a justification for attacking me was pretty easy to understand now, it was the way his family sees things.
"The alacryans must be using the hatred of some human noble families to get them as spies." Sirius spoke in my mind, and I just agreed with him, that was pretty obvious at this point, considering the information we have thanks to Goodsky and thanks to our corrupted slaves.
"Luz, he arrived." Kathyln spoke and then I was picking up the unconscious Sullyvan, carrying him to the carriage.
"My God, even listening to the princess talking about what happened, I can't believe it with my own eyes." The driver from earlier spoke up, watching the person I was carrying into the carriage.
"Yeah.... the situation was intense, but I'm pretty safe in saying we'll be fine for the rest of the night. I always carry extra elexires to replenish my mana core." I told a half lie, I actually have elixirs for that, but they're in a dimensional ring I'd forgotten about in my room.
"I-I see..." He said still scared and then I handed him the scroll, with Goodsky still on the line.
"We were talking to Director Goodsky about what happened, she is already aware and will let you know where to take the boy. Now, we will have dinner... A battle makes anyone hungry." I spoke as if what had happened was no big deal.
"Fufufu~ Luz, even in a situation like this, you remain stable. I really don't regret making you vice captain." Cynthia said.
"Okay Kathy, can you take me to the restaurant?" I asked the princess, who had apparently managed to return the face to a neutral state.
I waved to the driver and was guided by the princess, the streets of Xyrus City at night are always different, but in this high class neighborhood, it was stunning. There were lots of colored lights and very rich people walking and talking around there.
It didn't take that long and we arrived in front of a restaurant that, my god, I would say was a 6 star place in a world where the maximum is 5. There was a sign above the entrance, with the name of the place, but unfortunately the font used for the letters was so ELEGANT, I couldn't read anything.
Kathyln went ahead of me and talked to a receptionist, after that, she pulled me back and we walked to the second floor, which was quite empty, unlike the first, which was at least 70% full.
"Wow... Do rich folks much prefer the first floor on?" I said after we sat in an area not so close to the windows, due to what happened earlier in the square.
"Well... I ask my mom to reserve a spot here for me... Kind of... She's reserved the entire floor." When Kathyln said that, I gave a cough from accidentally swallowing saliva.
"Did you say... the entire floor?" I asked and she just silently nodded.
My mind began to picture Queen Priscilla, using paper money like a fan while giving a classic rich-people giggle. And to make matters worse, my mind imagined that in her other hand was a marriage officiating paper, addressed to me and her daughter.
"She might not be as direct as Blaine... But of course she wants her daughter and I to be together." I thought, while, unlike lunch, now Kathyln was choosing what we were going to eat.
What arrived at the table was something too extravagant for dinner in my opinion, as I like to be simple with food. On the table was non-alcoholic wine, lobster, beautifully decorated slices of beef, mashed potatoes, extremely thin pasta, and melted cheese. All of this served in bowls and plates that had fire gems on them, thus preventing anything in there from getting cold.
"Hmm... Do you like lobster...?" I said a little confused, because so far I haven't seen many seafood being served in this world, the most I've eaten of this type, was fish-type mana beast, in my adventurer times.
"Hmhm." She nodded, looking straight at me, I gave her a smile in response.
We started to put the portions we wanted on our plates and tasted it, I felt an excellent and smooth taste of the items in front of us. Really, this restaurant is fancy and great, but to improve it, I did the same thing last time, creating a bubble of sound mana around us and releasing another sound spell, creating a bgm for us. This time I chose something that reminded me of smooth jazz.
Kathyln stopped eating for a moment, looking around and then at me. "What kind of music is this?"
"Oh... It's something I can't get out of my head, I don't know why. What do you think?" what I said was not a lie, since my favorite styles are Jazz, classical music, and Pop-Rock derivations.
"Hmm... It's good." She said that closing her eyes while listening to the music.
"I'm glad you liked it. Maybe I'll create an artifact that produces this music without me having to be present." I commented, and she gave a simple smile.
"I would love to have this..." the princess returned to stare deep into my eyes, with our gazes always connected.
We passed the time, eating and having a few simple conversations, the topic always changing but never leaving casual ones. There was a moment when I removed my blaze, leaving the beige-blue shirt completely exposed, it was hanging on my chair. Even though I was away from the windows, I could see how starry it was tonight, so I decided to get up.
"If you'll excuse me... I need to do something, I'll be back in 5 minutes at most, okay?" I gave her a wink.
"O-okay." She was blushing slightly as I walked towards what looked like a bathroom.
Arriving in the bathroom, I closed the door and used my essential vision, there it was really empty. Knowing this, I directed my dimensional ring towards the sink, thus releasing a small pink box, I took the item and opened it to see if everything was there.
"Great... I didn't forget anything." I gave a smile looking in the mirror and noticed that my hair was still slightly messed up from the fight from before, so I took advantage and brushed my hair using a comb made from pure mana.
All tidy and ready, I exit the bathroom with the pink box in hand, but I noticed something that made me stop halfway. I saw Kathyln standing next to my chair, she had taken that dark green piece of clothing of mine and was...
"Is she smelling my blaze....?" I thought, while watching that scene, I walked back a few steps, making a stronger slamming of the bathroom door, so she realized I was returning and went back to her seat.
I walked over, still confused by what she was doing earlier, and she was looking at me with that neutral expression, but her cheeks pretty rosy and her eyes were more empty than normal. I sighed and walked towards her, standing beside her and handing her the box.
"I know it's not much, but I hope you like it." I commented as she took the box and slowly opened it, her eyes widened for a slight moment.
Inside the box was a necklace and a pair of earrings, all of which were silver, something to match the colors she normally wears. Her cheeks turned redder, her gaze always going to the present and me.
"Want some help?" I asked and she nodded excitedly.
I took the earrings first and carefully put them in her ears, they were small, so It wouldn't steal her attention that much. To put the necklace on I stayed behind her and with kindness I put it on her neck, but when my hand moved away from her neck, she held my wrist tight and pulled me a little, I showed no resistance and we ended up in a pose where, she was sitting on a chair, and I was behind her, hugging her in the area below her neck.
"Thank you... for being with me..." She said in a shy and happy way, that would be so adorable if I forget what she was doing before.
I patted her head a little, before saying. "Hm, so explain to me, why were you smelling that?"
My question made her cheeks redden quite a bit, I chuckled, but she decided not to answer at all. I got out from behind her and walked towards my seat, but she grabbed my wrist again.
"On my side..." the way she said it was adorable and shy.
I gave a defeated sigh and picked up my plate, now the chair I was sitting on was next to hers. The rest of the dinner went by in silence, just the bgm I conjured before playing, I took a quick look at her using essence vision, and she was radiating happiness, even though she wasn't expressing it.
Finishing dinner, we ordered dessert, to eat after we arrived at Xyrus Academy, I wanted something simple, but Kathy decided to order a chocolate and strawberry cake. It didn't take long and a cake appeared that was of medium size. Kathy was again paying for our food, I wish I had paid for her, but she didn't want to listen to me and paid anyway, meanwhile, to take the cake, I simply used my dimensional ring.
Leaving the restaurant, I looked around and then at the princess, noticing that it was possibly already around 10 pm. "Well, we have to get to Xyrus Academy soon. So... Do you want me to carry you?"
Without much resistance, she accepted the idea and stretched out her arms as if she wanted me to turn my back so she could climb on top of me. I turned around and soon she hugged my neck with her arms and my hips with her legs.
"Airborn... Piston step." I spoke my wind spell that made my body extremely light, and soon after I took a very high jump thanks to my second spell. My great lightness made me float a lot, it wasn't flying, but falling.... with style!
And so we were moving, I went as far as possible, until I was forced to land on the roof of some building, and then I used the Piston step again to propel me to the skies. This process was not slow, and at least it allowed us to see the beautiful landscape of the starry night.
"Wow...." my companion said in amazement, seeing the beauty of Xyrus City at night.
"I hope our date was great for you." I said with a slight laugh at the end.
"Even with that problem.. I loved being with you." She hugged me more tightly as I landed on top of Xyrus Academy's clock tower. "Hm...? Why do we land here?"
"Not at all... I just wanted to enjoy our night a little longer." I commented as she got off my back and stood beside me. I had an idea that would make her forget, at least for a while, that she needed to keep me tied to her.
"Enjoy? Ho—"
Before she could complete the question, I gave her a soft kiss, our lips just touching, but I knew very well how much this meant to her. When I was about to break the kiss, she hugged me tightly and continued to kiss me, never moving on to anything more intense, remaining a simple and gentle kiss.
We slowly pulled our faces away, her face red as a tomato and her eyes completely fixed on me, she hugged me even tighter hiding her face in my clothes and not letting go of me for nothing. I lightly stroked her hair, we stayed like that for a few minutes until I decided it was time to head to our rooms.
With Airborn still active, holding tight to her, I slowly descended through the air until we reached the entrance to the building that housed the disciplinary committee and student council. We went in together and walked a little, until, before going up the stairs to the second floor, we ended up finding Cynthia, Tessia and Claire waiting for us.
"Hello... Sorry if we were too late." I said lightly scratching the back of my neck.
"Relax, let's talk more about the problem you guys encountered... But I think only you need to come with us, Luz." Cynthia said looking at Kathyln who was clearly sleepy.
"Kathyln, can you go to your room alone?" Claire asked, worried.
"I can... I'm not sleepy at the level of falling into the floor." Kathy replied, already with her usual expression...For god's sake... she can really hidden everything she feels?
Either way, I started to walk, going up to the second floor of the building. "Okay, let's talk this over at your office, Cynthia?" I asked looking at the three there.
"Yes." She said as we started up the stairs and entered her office.
"Master Cynthia said you were going to talk to us about what was going on so could you tell us?" Tessia asked, looking serious.
"Simple... We have a case of noble humans... Completely racist and insane, to the point where one of them tried to kill me for being your friend and for me being a commoner living in Xyrus." I made a basic comment on the situation for Tessia.
"Wait, so it's the same thing that happened to Arthur?" when Claire said that, I didn't understand.
"What?...." I looked confused at the three of them.
"After you contacted me, Arthur and Claire came to me saying that someone tried to attack him in the same way, what happened was at 8 pm, and the student was also injured on purpose while attacking your brother." Cynthia commented, making me look wide-eyed.
And I thought my night was going to end in a normal way after dating an yandere...
