Chapter 45: A NEW BEGINNING

All these three years...what was he thinking?

To give himself an excuse, he assumed his tears that day on the cliff was out of shock. He did love her once and wanted to eradicate her as well. He achieved his goal and she was gone eternally. He kept telling himself that he was a demon and he bears no heart, a demon doesn't cry. They are born to eradicate but then he found himself stopping the slaughtering of people for stones.

In the end, he decided to go into seclusion.

Within four walls, he meditated.

Quit thinking but he can't seem to overlook her.

Can she be even forgotten? He questioned himself.

At the end of the day, when the sun was gone and the moon was up in the sky along with several twinkling stars, he stared at it for the longest time. Sitting under the tree, he recalled her. Stroking her thumb ring in his hand.

Recalling her so much to the point he becomes anxious.

What if she was blamed from the beginning?

Just the thought of it makes his stomach twist and his heart starts beating aggressively in its ribcage.

What if she loved him?

Rubbing a hand down his face, he would sit up straight and start meditating again. Sharpening his godly martial arts skills and exhausting himself to the point he can't think anymore. His martial arts skills mixed with her skills as well, after all, he learned it from her.

With her moves in his mind his body will move and with a plot to bring his father down would be plotting in his mind. Fooling Megara with his so-called father was an easy task but this time the prey was the father.

Just what was the end? We don't know because this was a new beginning of chaos. This was the limitation, the end game.

He wanted to visit certain places before officially ending his seclusion. He didn't want anyone to know about his destination but in the end, Adonis had to barge into his seclusion just as he was about to leave. It was not like he couldn't crack his neck into two if he wanted to but not discovering him in seclusion can cause a mess and the information might reach his father and then that old freak will get suspicious. In the end, he had to lie to Adonis about his destination.

The moon was still up when he left his seclusion and towards his true destination. His demonic pet kept the track of his surroundings under its hawk gaze in case anyone was pursuing him.

***Mountain Nagi. West side. ***

A bustling town between mountains.

Markets were lively and people were very humble, this was the place where Evandros mother, Jasemin used to live. This was the first time he came here. He wanted to meet his mother's family which he probably didn't know. He didn't know where they lived. All he ever knew was they lived in the town between Mountain Nagi.

Here people were soft-hearted and fragile.

He looked like a giant among them as he ambled within the market. He wore a black cloak and his face was covered by a black cloth. He tried to act as fragile as he could to not gain attention but it was impossible.

People passing by were giving him looks. Shop owners gaped at him through the cup of their tea while some just stared at him without restraint. The Maiden blushed while walking past him even though they cannot see his face.

Two thoughts came into his mind.

One, he would have started a whole carnival around him if he wasn't hiding his face.

Two, they will fly away if they come to know about his true individuality.

These blushing maidens will be horrified out of their wits.

He halted midway when he noticed a tea house right on his left side. It didn't look crowded so to have a little rest and to know the background of his mother's small lineage he sprinted inside the tea house.

His mother didn't belong to a great clan or sect, she was from a town within the mountains hence her blood wasn't strong and that's why his father was always triggered about it and cursed his fate.

It should have been another way around. His mother was the unlucky one, not that wicked demon.

Once he stepped inside the tea house all the eyes snapped toward him. People gaped at him...probably because they never saw someone like him here. He silently walked towards the corner and settled down on the table. His broad back confronted the people.

He could hear whispers behind him but chose to ignore them. A waiter timidly approached him and bowed at him. "What would you like to have, Master?" The man asked. Evandros passed him a side glimpse before ordering a cup of tea for himself.

The waiter soon came with the tea and was about to leave but Evandros stopped him, without saying much he slid the three coins of silver on the table towards the waiter.

"I have something to ask," Evandros uttered and the waiter bobbed his head, grabbing the coins and shoving them inside his untidy robe.

"Where does the Emerald Family live?" He asked and the waiter went still for a second. He quickly bent down towards Evandros.

"That family has been killed long ago." The waiter said, surprising Evandros. "What?" He asked and the waiter nodded. "Many years ago...the family was killed by their own son-in-law for the stone. What? Who was that.. uhh man? Ahhh yes, yes, Linya...he was from Linya. Isn't that brutal clan still killing people for stone? I've heard that they stopped due to the incident that happened three years ago. I don't know clearly but there was this woman who was also involved in this situa---" The waiter halted and unconsciously stepped back when he found Evandros glaring at him. The waiter thought he was hallucinating because he saw red.

"Just answer what is asked." Evandros rasped and abruptly stood up, making the waiter cower as he flinched back. "Where is the residence of the emerald family?" He asked curtly and the waiter answered while stammering.

"K-Keep walking straight, a t-tailor shop will be s-seen..next to it is an a-alley. Turn inside and you will find their abundant m-mansion."

Evandros left the tea house, without even drinking the tea or resting. He walked and a little far he saw a few clothes hanging out of a shop, it must be the tailor shop.

His mind was in chaos, he clearly remembered his mother telling him that her husband Ezekiel gifted her a black stone. This was probably the first and last time he saw her happy. Was she not aware that her husband killed her family for that stone he gifted her or why would he kill her family?

He never scrutinized this...he never got the need to. He thought his father gifted the stone to his mother and later Megara killed his mother for the stone but it was clear in the end no one got the stone and it just vanished.

What? Was his mother truly not aware that her husband butchered her family?

He walked past the tailor shop and turned inside the alley, walking furthermore he was on another route of the market, and right before him was the small manor of the Emerald family which was now broken and dusty.

The door was clanking with wind and the lamp that was hanging outside the entrance was swinging with each gust of wind.

With a heavy sigh, he walked up to the entrance. There was a loose lock outside the door. His father killed his own wife's family for the stone and then gifted that stone to his wife. Just what was a black stone doing in the hands of such a small family? Why does it have to be in his mother's family?

Is it another play by his father?

"Bloody bastard." He cursed under his whiff.

"Who are you?"
