what are you doing ?" Robert spoke from behind her, startling her. She turned around rapidly and almost fell.
"Uncle Robert! What are you doing here?" She asked as she smiled widely, she felt a few strands of sweat crawling down her face. Thankfully she had kept what she took before he came.
"I think I asked that question a second ago. I came down here to check on something. Whatever it is you're doing, I hope it's not something naughty,"
"Of course, it's not, since when do I do naughty things," She turned her eyes.
Robert looked at her strangely, "Every time." Then he stepped out of his cabin.
Alexandra let out a deep breath, she placed her hand on her hard-pounding chest to calm herself. She looked around making sure she was all alone, she walked closer to the shelf and quickly took the book.
After hiding it safely under her gown, she walked out of the cabin with ease.
______
She slammed her door shut and hurried toward her bed. She takes in deep breaths before bringing out the book from under her gown.
'The Ginnak's book of spells' was boldly written on the front page of the book.
Her heart was beating fast, she felt she was doing wrong by taking the book without permission. But something about the book draws her attention.
She opened the book, but it didn't open.
Something wasn't right.
She tried again but it didn't work. She turned the back of the book and discovered strange words. She looked deeper into the words but still, they remained strange to her.
As she was about to turn the book again something caught her eyes.
'If you want to open-'
How could she understand strange words?
She looks at the words again, hardly believing she could understand them.
'If you want to open the first book of Ginnak, the blood of the possessed body should be placed on top of the red ruby on the front page.'
She sighed after reading this. She didn't know any Ginnak-possessed body or whatever. But the second half of the back page took her off guard.
'But if you're reading this, that means you understand the language. Your blood can also open the book-'
"What are you doing?" For the second time in the same night, Alexandra was startled. She looked at who spoke and quickly tried to hide the book under her gown.
"Ginnak's book of spells," Dominic said plainly, catching her. "I wonder what Robert would think when he discovered you stole his book." He continued as he walked with slow steps into the room.
"I…I didn't steal it…" Her voice quivered as she defended herself. She was caught.
Dominic gazed at her for a few seconds before stretching his hand forward, "Hand it over." And with great hesitation, she handed it over to him.
"Next time, be a less curious cat." With this, he strides out of the room.
______
"I told you to hide the book, didn't I?" A furious Dominic asked, he wasn't looking at Simon as he spoke.
"Yes, you did." Simon replied, "But I thought helping her speed up the process would make our plan move faster to reach its goal."
"No, helping her speed up the process would only make finding the Books of Goratar harder."
"Or you're just being paranoid thinking you'd have to end her early."
"Me ending her is a fate she can't escape from. But for now, we need to find all four books of Goratar." Dominic said. He turned around and looked over at Simon,
"How's the blackwink's girl?" He paused as he stood up from his chair and walked over to his safe box. "We are having a change of plan." He opened the safe box and brought out files, the same files stolen by Karina Tyler.
"The blackwink's girl would be arriving at the palace earlier than intended, make sure of that." He passed the files to Simon. "Those files contain the locations of the four books, the originals. The first book's location is still hidden, but you'll have to bring the other three."
"When am I leaving?" Simon asked, thoroughly calm.
"Soon." That was all Dominic replied before turning his back on Simon.
________
That night the trotting of a carriage was heard entering the palace. King Magnus was back.
"What did I miss?" He asked with his usual enthusiasm as he sat down. He was tired, Alexandra noticed.
"Nothing much, just the usual Lexi and the boys' stuff," Robert said and smiled teasingly at Alexandra, whose face turned beet red.
"I suppose that's Michael and Oliver. Where are they?" King Magnus asked, he glanced at Alexandra and smirked. Alexandra didn't know why she was settled among the two of them, she should have done to meet Katherine or Thomas, but no, she didn't. Now both men were teasing her.
"They went out earlier today, I think they should be arriving in a few hours," Robert answered.
"I wonder how Oliver would behave seeing Alexandra being all love-struck over Michael." King Magnus chuckled.
"I…I'm…I'm not love stuck with anybody…" Her face down to her neck became tomato red.
They heard footsteps and a door opening.
"Speaking of the he-devils," Robert commented and King Magnus laughed out. It was nice to hear his voice.
"Your Majesty."
"Your Majesty."
Both Michael and Oliver said at the same time as they walked in.
"I got the message from your fathers that you'd be arriving in a week, I had no idea you'd decided to cut it short by arriving early." King Magnus said as he shifted his gaze between the two.
"The trip I was due for got postponed."
"I was assigned a few assignments in this kingdom, accommodation was needed so I decided to just come here."
King Magnus nodded at both of their reasons. They both excused themselves and went up to their room.
Alexandra was still processing; they were both brothers.
____
Alexandra climbed up the stairs towards her room, it had been a long day.
She shuddered when she felt a strong hand covering her mouth while the other hand was around her body and the person took her to a corner. Her eyes widened from terror.
"Shh…" she looked at the face as the person brought his face closer to hers. The hand on her lip loosened and she inhaled after recognizing the person.
Michael.
"How have you been today, love," His soft voice made her heart beat faster. Did he just? Yes, he did. He called her love.
"M…Michael…?" Her mouth trembled as he ran his forefinger across her face and tugged her hair to her ear.
"Shhhh…Love, I'm here…" He said and smiled very lustrously. That was when Alexandra noticed something was wrong.
He was drunk. His body reeks of alcohol, even his breath.
"Michael…you're drunk." She said and tried to get hold of his hand, he needed to sleep and rest his head.
"No…I'm not." He snickered. Alexandra could hear the sadness in his voice.
"What happened?" Alexandra asked softly, her heart was breaking at the sight of him toiling not to show he was hurt.
"No…Nothing…" he refuted, but Alexandra placed her hand on his face. "I…I met her today…" his voice cracked.
This caught Alexandra's attention. "Who?"
"Her…the she-devil."
