"I do. In situations like this, I feel like I have to." Seeing the confused expression on her face, Gus chose to explain further. "Whenever I come up against something that I feel like, if I had given either my skill or my System a little more time to improve, then maybe I could have forced a different outcome. And, despite the fact that I have never done anything to improve myself in this way, forgetting certain things about the System all of the time, I can only hope to think that somewhere there's a version of me that actually bothered to be efficient enough with it that they could become powerful enough to overcome anything that stood in their path. It gives me a bit of a push to be better."
