Descending cautiously, they found themselves in a crumbling but grand structure that must have once been a resplendent temple or palace.

But now vegetation and rubble choked the spiraling passageways. The wet earthy smell of decay permeated the stale air.

As the twisting corridors led them deeper underground, an increasingly unnatural feel permeated the atmosphere.

The hairs on their necks prickled with instinctive unease.

Things felt fundamentally off in a way they couldn't articulate.

Then the first anomalies began appearing.

Strange gravity shifts caused debris to inexplicably fall up instead of down.

Bands of energy randomly accelerated or slowed their movements erratically. Simply lighting a torch produced cascades of sparks in all directions.
