I could feel my guard quickly melting the longer I was with Abel. It terrified me to my core. Every time I lowered my guard, I was betrayed. But I couldn’t stop myself from hoping that this time was different.

I woke up the next morning feeling refreshed. I jumped out of bed, getting dressed before leaving the room.
I was surprised to find I was the first to arrive from the Alphas. Not wasting any time, I made my way over to the food and eating quickly.
“You’re early,” Phebe commented, stepping into the room with a yawn.
Shrugging, I stepped aside for her to grab some food. The others arrived one by one until we all were ready to leave.
“Where are we going today?” Sarai asked, turning to Abel.
“We’re getting answers,” he said, swinging open the door before stepping out.
“Answers?” I asked, turning to Phebe.
“The prisoner who you keep claiming you don’t know,” she elaborated.
