Chapter 38: Indebted

Still trembling from the intensity of the orgasm, Rain managed a soft nod. The overwhelming heat that had earlier consumed her sanity had subsided and been replaced by a strange mix of relief and embarrassment. She felt calmer now, but the remnants of the drug's effects lingered, leaving her unsettled.

Still locked in his arms she turned her head slightly and met Alexander's gaze, their faces so close she could feel his breath on her lips. "I… I think I am fine now," she whispered, her voice shaky and hoarse with a hint of uncertainty in it. She was not sure about how he felt throughout and what to say or how to process everything that just happened. All she knew was that, at that moment, the unbearable pain that she felt was gone.

Alexander gently brushed a strand of her hair away from her face and tucked it behind her ear, his eyes searching hers for any sign of discomfort. "Good," he murmured.
