Chapter 8: The senior professor visit the hospital in the island
Surgeon Catherine and physician John got to the hospital and met people waiting for them outside including her senior professor who set her up at her former hospital.
Catherine was angry on seeing him, she said professor, what are you doing here?
The professor replied, you are still arrogant, can't you say hello to your professor that has been taking care of you since all this while?
Catherine reply with, what! That has been taking care of me? you set me up.
The director said No! I did not, I actually was not in the hospital when the whole thing happen, you did the surgery, Catherine.
Catherine smile and said, I did not know you are this evil trying to bring down your junior colleague.
The senior professor said No No, nobody is trying to bring you down but you are the one trying to bring yourself down.
The senior professor of the hospital in the island croaked, "ehem" can you both please stop and let us go to the office first, there are other staffs here.
Catherine quickly said, Sir please let this man go back, he does not belong here.
Catherine are going to disobey me..? Said her new senior professor.
Her new senior professor pointing to the road that leads to the entrance said to her former professor, this way. Oh Ok, said her said professor and they all went into the senior professor's office.
The both senior professor were talking silently and laughing, Catherine said senior professor, what is going on here sir.
The senior professor said oh Catherine, meet my hold time friend, we went to the same University and graduated together as a doctor, he his a surgeon doctor but I am a medicine doctor. They both laugh
Her former senior professor said I remember in the old days when we were in the University, you are a very stubborn young man then, I believe old age as collect it all from you now, they both burst into laughter again.
Catherine sigh and say to her self, I guess I come into the lion's den.
Then her former senior professor turn to her and say, Catherine, are you performing the surgery for the assemblyman?
Catherine reply yes, but her former senior professor said to her new senior professor that please can you excuse us, I need to say some things to her.
Her new senior professor said no problem and he got up to go out, on his way, he stopped at where Catherine was standing "standing beside her" he said to her ear, you must make sure we perform the surgery, do you get that? Catherine node her head.
As the professor went out, her former senior professor stood up and went close to Catherine, he patted her on her shoulder and said, Catherine, you know you are a very intelligent but arrogant lady.
You can not have both at once, you are so intelligent but your arrogance is ruining your career, I did not set you up for nothing but to save you.
Catherine cut in that what do you mean by to save me, you planned to kill someone and want to put the blame on me.
The senior professor said No, I did not kill anybody, but you're arrogant. In the hospital, you feel and act as if you are the only one that knows how to perform any difficult surgery and that makes the director like you more, now that you kill his son, I do not think he will like you again. He laughed out loud as he walked out of the office.
Catherine standing still was just looking down as she cracked the floor with her toe, She sighs.
Later that day the director of her former called and asked her to get ready for the surgery the next day and it will be done by 11pm, Catherine replied to him with Ok sir.
She called physician John and told him what the director said, john looking quiet saying nothing
John, said Catherine. Don't you hear what I say?
The director ask us to prepare for the surgery and it will be done by 11pm tomorrow
John replied I heard you but…
But what!? Said Catherine.
John said, Catherine. Don't you think this is another setup for you? Please think about this, these people are evil, don't you think your former senior professor has said something to the director and they are planning something against you again, remember the last one you told me. But Catherine said No, I do not think so, the director is not like that.
John cut in and said, that is how you trust your former senior professor and set you up, do you quickly trust Human beings like that? This might also be another coup planning on you.
What setup? I said what planning, said the new senior professor as he opened the door and walked in.
Catherine said ahhm… itss.. as she turned stammered.
John said, yes sir, it might be another setup for Catherine the way her senior professor did last time to her..
John! Catherine shouted as she looked at him angrily..
The director said No, I just spoke with the director, he told me everything will be fine and the surgery will be taking place in their hospital but our own doctors here will perform the surgery, isn't that good for our hospital here? Soon the assemblyman will come to sign a contract with us.
John angrily said, is the signing of a contract from the assemblyman that so important to you, don't you think of what will happen to Surgeon Catherine and this hospital if anything goes wrong?
The director says, nothing will happen, everything will be fine, do not worry. Now go and prepare to leave for the city.
Catherine went outside, John followed her and slammed the door angrily.
The next morning, they prepared and got ready to leave for the city. As they entered the car, the director came outside to meet them. He said to both of them, you must update me on everything going on, is that talking? They replied yes sir, he turned to John and said, physician John, please do not cause any trouble over there. Whatever the situation, you must tell me first. Now go.
They start the car and leave.
