Chapter 1: Lionel [1]

[Host Found…]

[Initiating Host to the system….]

[Congratulations! You've been granted the Extraordinary System]

"What's this?" Lionel stated weakly as he pressed his hand against his bleeding wound. This caused him more pain, making him more awake from his dizzy state.

[System has discovered that the host is in danger!]

[Healing Host… Please be patient!]

Though he could see some sort of notifications flashing on a weird-looking blue hologram panel in front of him, his mind couldn't help but be distracted by something else.

"Did I transmigrate or did I recover my past memories?" Lionel was puzzled.

Moments ago, he was being chased by a level 1 monster. Though he managed to escape, he fell due to his serious injuries.

With the amount of blood loss he had, he knew he was going to die. Just as his vision was about to darken, a large fuse of unfamiliar information rushed into his brain.

It was about the life of another Lionel on a planet called Earth.

Lionel couldn't help but be very conflicted about his identity at the moment due to the different sets of memories in his mind.

One set belonged to a Lionel who lived on a planet devoid of magic until the last moment of his life, and the other belonged to someone who had known about the supernatural from the moment he was born.

The only similarity was that both Lionels had almost 18 years' worth of memories each. Because of this large amount of different information, Lionel couldn't help but question his situation.

"This is really confusing. Neither Lionel died, so it should not be transmigration. Yet, for this reason, it can't also be the recovery of past life memories."

The more Lionel thought about it, the more of a headache he had.

In the end, he decided not to think about it since it changed nothing.

Regardless of whether it was the recovery of his past life memories or transmigration, his situation was still the same.

"I'm Lionel Stone from Earth and I'm also Lionel Blaze from the Asura Continent."

"Ugh."

After resolving his identity conflict, Lionel was once again reminded of the bleeding wound on his stomach.

However, when he glanced down to look at it, he was surprised!

The wound, initially big enough to see his intestines, was healing at a visible speed!

"How?"

Lionel was taken aback by the sight.

It was at this moment he remembered the strange panel and the cold voice that had been talking in his head when he 'awoke'.

And just on cue….

[Host has been saved from imminent danger!]

[Due to the urgency of the situation, the system had no choice but to heal the host. A small punishment will be given.]

"Is this...a system?" Lionel muttered, smacking his lips with his other hand.

As an avid novelist on Earth, he was no stranger to transmigration. Wasn't his current situation almost a perfect example?

Lionel also wasn't a stranger to the concept of systems.

If he was not mistaken, then this should be his 'golden finger.'

The only worry now was that this 'golden finger' seemed to have 'punished' him.

As several thoughts flashed through Lionel's mind, he noticed that the wound on his stomach was now fully healed.

"Goddess of Magic! Even a [Mid Tier] health potion shouldn't be able to heal me this fast, right?"

Lionel wasn't too sure. He hadn't even taken a [Low Tier] health potion in his life to know about its effect.

Before Lionel could think any further, a message from his system appeared in front of him.

"How are my stats this high?! If the average value is 1, then I'm even better than most Olympic champions back on Earth!"

Lionel thought about it and then realized why he was seemingly so strong: it was because of the knight breathing technique.

From the memories of this body's previous life, Lionel knew there were supernatural things in this world.

Gods, devils, angels, knights, demons, monsters, wizards, mages, and warlocks that would have been seen as fantasy on Earth were real here.

The history of civilization in this world was very long and complicated. The level of productivity was not low. In some aspects, it was similar to Earth and even surpassed it.

However, there were more differences between the two.

The biggest difference was the large number of supernatural phenomena and powerful individuals in this world.

They determined the development and direction of civilization and were known as Extraordinaires.

As the name implied, Extraordinaires had power that surpassed that of ordinary people. They were also the ruling class of the entire world.

Only a small number of people could become Extraordinaires.

If ordinary people wanted to break through, they could pay to enter an Extraordinaire Academy. There was a certain chance that they would become Extraordinaires, but the chances were very low. Furthermore, the school fees were extremely expensive and most times, one could only become a knight at most.

The Lionel of this world came from a small place called Black Iron Town and was a noble, albeit a somewhat low one, as he was merely the last son of a Viscount.

Though it was not a mage, wizard, or witch family but one of the many knight families in the empire, the Blaze family was still among the nobler ones.

As a member of a family with an Extraordinary background, even with his status as the last son, Lionel could work for his family and live the life of a noble, or work as the attendant of a nobler being like a mage or wizard, as long as he became an official Knight.

However, the cultivation of an Extraordinary was expensive. Even wealthy merchants would sweat at the cost of raising one of the easier Extraordinary paths like knights.

The Blaze family already had a lot of knights to take care of, including Lionel's two elder brothers who were already official knights.

Together with his slightly worse talent, there was only so much assistance Lionel could receive from his family on his path to becoming an official knight.

However, it seems this Lionel was very arrogant, or more accurately, stupid.

He believed he had talent, and the reason he was taking so long to become an official knight was due to his lack of resources, which he blamed on his family.

As his frustration increased due to his increasing lack of resources, he decided to show his "blind" family that he could become an official knight on his own.

He decided to sneak into the forest not far from his father's territory and hunt for monsters to acquire resources for himself.

A stupid action, since a team of official knights was required to hunt the weakest monster, and he wasn't even an official knight, nor was he close to becoming one.

It was because of this one stupid action that Lionel found himself dying just after waking up in this new, strange world.
