Chen Fan led An Lan deep into the cave.
An Lan was like a shadow, following every step that Chen Fan took. She clutched the corner of Chen Fan's clothes with one hand, as if she feared being left behind.
Suddenly, Chen Fan stopped in his tracks.
An Lan, who didn't react in time, bumped into him and quickly steadied herself, asking nervously, "What... what's wrong?"
Chen Fan spoke indifferently, "Someone is lying in ambush ahead of us."
An Lan's eyes widened, and she immediately grabbed Chen Fan's arm, "There are others here besides us? Are you sure it's a person and not... something dirty?"
Chen Fan glanced at her and said, "Let go of me and keep walking. Don't show any signs of panic."
Then he pulled his arm away and continued walking forward.
An Lan shivered and hurriedly followed, trembling as she observed her surroundings, fearing that a ghost might suddenly appear and startle her.
The two hadn't walked much farther when they saw a stone door ahead.
