Chapter 46: Chapter 46: Shield and Blade

One underground force after another began to investigate the cause of the Brotherhood's downfall. Although Robert left no clues about himself, the fact that the Brotherhood was wiped out by a supernatural force was acknowledged by all factions, because only a supernatural force could execute such a clean operation without leaving any traces.

As a result, suspicions began to arise among the supernatural powers within the underground forces. Although there was no evidence, the powers were watching each other, and tensions were already high, especially among those who were already enemies.

Among those most persistent in their investigations were naturally the employers of the Brotherhood. Sloan, after tampering with the Fate Loom, had taken a few orders, but the subsequent orders had not yet been forged before the Fate Loom wove Clark's name.

Sloan, feeling guilty because his own name had appeared on the Fate Loom before, and wanting to shift the Brotherhood members' attention, issued the order, which ultimately led to the Brotherhood being swiftly dealt with by Robert.

Those employers, who had paid deposits, were not going to let the Brotherhood's mysterious downfall go without recouping their losses. Clark was unaware of the turmoil in the underworld. After carefully observing places like the textile factory and the police station and ensuring Robert hadn't been discovered by anyone, he temporarily stopped paying attention.

After the alert was lifted, the Kent family returned to their normal lives, with Robert, who could no longer take time off, going back to school the next day.

What Robert didn't know was that after he left, Clark quietly went to a deserted wilderness, recalling the scene predicted by the Fate Loom and remembering Robert flying in the sky, his eyes flickering with longing as he looked up.

"Since the Fate Loom saw me floating in mid-air, I should be able to fly too..." A thought crossed Clark's mind, "And since Robert can already fly, it means flying isn't too difficult. Should I try it?"

With that thought, Clark took a deep breath, pushed off the ground, and propelled himself into the air, only to fall back down, then leap up again, continuing to fall...

After several attempts, Clark felt himself gradually escaping the pull of gravity, using his unique powers to lift his body into the air without any external help.

"I'm flying!" When Clark realized he was truly flying, his heart was exhilarated. Unlike Robert, who had flown countless times before his transmigration, this was Clark's first flight. His eyes sparkled with undeniable excitement, and even his lips involuntarily curved into a smile.

Even though Clark knew he was capable of this feat, actually achieving it brought a completely different sense of satisfaction. However, as the saying goes, joy often leads to sorrow, and even the powerful Clark was no exception. On his first flight, Clark's thoughts wandered, leading to a slight loss of control over his powers, and his body suddenly began to plummet from mid-air.

"I..." Clark was startled, then quickly adjusted his mindset and power, finally managing to stop just before hitting the ground, hovering a foot above the surface, wiping the nonexistent sweat from his forehead, and not crashing into the dirt.

"Good thing I didn't practice flying in front of that guy Robert, or he would've definitely made fun of me!" After regaining his composure, Clark felt somewhat relieved, then once again soared into the sky, embarking on his second journey to conquer the skies.

Clearly, as Clark became more proficient in flying, he handled it more smoothly, and even distractions didn't affect his flight anymore.

Even more, Clark found that being in the sun while floating in the air felt even more comfortable, so he couldn't help but float above the clouds, enjoying the sun's strengthening effects on his body.

Affected by Robert, the mystery of his origins, the tornado, and the Brotherhood's assassination attempts, Clark had fully accepted his powers and also wanted to use them to protect his family...

Clark knew he couldn't be as indifferent to killing and enemies' lives as Robert in the short term, but he believed his powers could definitely become a shield, always protecting his family. Robert, on the other hand, could be the proactive blade, after all, this was indeed what Robert was good at and enjoyed.

At Midtown High School, Robert was unaware that Clark had learned to fly so quickly and missed the chance to see Clark in a clumsy state. He only knew his meditation time was severely delayed because Kara brazenly sat next to him.

Originally, Kara, after being upset by Robert twice, had decided not to talk to him for a while, but Robert's absence from school the previous day made her immediately forget about not speaking to him.

"Why? Why did Kara sit next to him? Wasn't she ignoring us just like she ignored him?" The Dimitri group of five, upon seeing Kara sit next to Robert, looked at each other dejectedly, their thoughts resonating at that moment, achieving a sort of telepathic effect, and then a wave of sadness began to spread around them.

"I'm not talking to you, and you really didn't come looking for me? What did you do yesterday? Why didn't you come to school?" Kara, squinting her eyes at Robert, occasionally glanced at where Robert's tail would be, but due to Robert's previous warning, she didn't use her X-ray vision, just habitually looked towards Robert's tail.

"Why would I look for you when you haven't agreed to train and fight with me?" Robert glanced at Kara, retorting with confidence.

"You!" Kara was choked by Robert's words, clenching her teeth in frustration and glaring at him. After mentally telling herself not to get angry dozens of times, she took a deep breath and said, "Although I have great power, I'm not a warrior. Why should I train to fight?"

"You're indeed not a warrior, which is a bit of a waste, but to each their own. Maybe your race isn't very fond of fighting!" Robert nodded in agreement to Kara's words. He recognized Kara as a strong individual, but in his view, she wasn't a warrior, including Clark at this moment, who could only be considered strong but not a true warrior.

"Our race has dedicated warriors, born with the destiny of a warrior, and I am not such a warrior..." Kara explained softly.

"Are there still warriors of your race alive?" Robert's eyes lit up with anticipation as he asked Kara.

"There shouldn't be any left. With the destruction of Krypton, there should only be me and Kal-El left as Kryptonians in the universe." Kara sighed softly, appearing somewhat disheartened.
