Chapter 14: Super Gene Immortal Chapter 14

Lux stepped out onto the sands of the Colosseum arena. Surrounded by 998 foes that were the obstacles to overcome to go to the next round, and 1 extremely dead man. That extremely dead man was Luo Tianyang. He was extremely dead because Lux had decided that he wasn't going to fuck about with it. The sword at his side was going to cut the man in half the moment that the round began. He wasn't going to draw it out or risk the guy managing to do something like escaping.

Purposefully Lux made his way closer to his target. Waiting for the round to begin. His right hand ready to draw his katana and remove a parasite from the world. The count down started and Luo Tianyang surprised Lux by calling on a shapeshifting beast soul along with an Armor set that looked like bone. But it wouldn't save him.

The timer finished its countdown and Lux acted. He flashed forward with all the speed he could muster and lashed out with the katana in a downward slash. Luo Tianyang tried to defend, raising his arms in a futile attempted to stop the blade that descended upon him. The blade cut effortlessly through both arms slicing through the top of Luo Tianyangs head, all the way down to the middle of his stomach.

Luo Tianyang split like a banana down the middle of his body, not even able to scream as his body toppled over, spilling his internal organs upon the sands of the area floor. It was gruesome, and Lux felt his stomach churn as he looked at what he had done. This was the second time he had killed a person. Logically he knew that both people he had killed so far were vile, they deserved it. But that didn't stop his visceral reaction to the act of killing another human. He tamped down on the emotions and held them at bay as he flicked the blade to make sure that it was free of any blood and sheathed it before turning away from the corpse he had just made. He would deal with the emotional fallout when it was convenient, not now.

Lux looked around himself a little confused. Everyone was gone. They had vacated the arena and he was now the only man standing. The round ended. Lux was rather confused at this, before he saw the fear in the eyes of the contestants that had fled the arena. Other people had died during this tournament already, but that was mainly accidents. No one had gone straight after people with the intent to kill. This was a tournament, not a gladiator blood sport.

Lux was honestly a little put out by the fact that he hadn't been able to go all Dragoon centaur and fight across the arena like a rampaging beast. It would have been fun. Now he had to just deal with the fact that his vicious slaughter of Luo Tianyang had literally terrified the competition.

For the next several days Lux literally never left the Shelter's Martial hall. He remained in the stands, practicing his newly remade Jadeskin Sutra, and watching the other fights go down as the tournament wore on. Now it was all one v ones and some of the matches lasted for hours, which Lux found boring as hell. Lux's own matches were even more boring because no one would actually fight him. They just didn't even show up in the arena and left him there hanging. The only interesting match that Lux watched in that time was Son of Heaven versus Fist Guy.

Son of Heaven managed to win only by a narrow margin. And Lux was glad, when he won his next match, he would get to stand in front of Son of Heaven and cut him down. The Starry Group would mobilize resources to find out who Lux was. But they would fail miserably. Lux was planning on exercising his Heavy Stealth if anyone ever spotted his real identity. No one ever saw you if there are no witnesses left alive right?

Anyway, Son of Heaven's and Fist Guy's match had been the first of the final four. Now it was down to Lux and Qin Xuan. Lux was kind of looking forward to bending Qin Xuan over and snaking her real good. He had no clue what his current fitness would rate as, but he was sure that he was not stronger than her. She had been the number one in last years competition. She had become Steel Armor Shelter's Champion in the continuing tournament, but she failed to reach the top ten in the next phase. Lux was going to spank her and then proceed to kill Son of Heaven, then he was going to win the full tournament.

The reason that Lux was so confident was that he couldn't die. Even if he took a wound that should be fatal, all he had to do was keep going. It wouldn't kill him. And though Lux had been called many things in his lives, he had never been a little bitch. Literally any wound he received now was just a flesh wound. If he had to take a spear through the neck he would do it to win. The reason that he wanted to win was that he had already gone all in on making his public Lux persona too powerful to touch. The only times that he would have to be careful would be immediately upon entering the next sanctuary. But if he took his time in each and maxed everything out plus practiced his own Sutras? He would start in the next sanctuary as mid-level fighter at minimum.

Stepping into the ring with Qin Xuan Lux flexed his hands in preparation for the spanking that he was about to deliver.

"Lux, want to make a bet?" Qin Xuan asked as she readied herself.

"Fuck no. I'm about to give you the spanking that your daddy should have." Lux said, "And feel free to call me daddy while I do it too. I like that kind of thing." He was having a hard time maintaining his fake voice as he shit talked but he managed to pull through.

Qin Xuan sputtered and the crowd that was watching burst into laughter.

"You!" Qin Xuan's face was turning crimson, "You, you."

"Yes me. Call me daddy and I might go easy on your perfect little ass." Lux tilted his head to the side then shook it, "Then again that might make me get rougher with you… I guess if you are into that sort of thing." He shrugged.

One thing that Lux had noticed about Alliance culture was that they were even more prudish than most cultures he'd ever seen on earth. Oh sure, there were still prostitutes, strippers, and all of that sex worker stuff. But culturally, sex and sexual activities and preferences were borderline taboo. It was a strange culture to find himself in. But it really made it easy to get under people's skin. This was especially true with people of opposite sexes. Practically any sexual reference from a woman to man was met with spluttering and disbelief, and vice versa. It was hilarious to use this tool as a weapon.

A brilliant flash signified the start of the match and Qin Xuan materialized her dagger that Lux knew was a Sacred-Blood weapon. Perhaps her only hope of causing damage to him through his armor aside from good old blunt force trauma.

In response Lux materialized his spear. One should never bring a knife to spear fight except as a backup. Then he materialized his wings and felt the spirit of JoJo try to take over his body. But he remained strong. No bizarre poses today. Then he flexed his wings and took to the air. Circling his opponent who was crouched in a ready position.

Lux dove towards Qin Xuan and she danced out of the way before trying to close the distance while he was extended with his spear. But Lux just choked up a bit and swept hard, the leaflike blade of the spear zipping towards Qin Xuans side faster than most people could comprehend. Somehow, Qin Xuan managed to pull a Neo. Leaning almost perfectly perpendicular to the ground and Lux's spear passed over her stomach with mere inches of clearance.

Lux didn't let up though, spinning the point around and slapping the butt of the spear into her hip with a resounding crack and launching her bodily into the air from the angle of the attack. She rolled with the momentum of the strike attempting to maintain some kind of control. But even though she was strong, fast and skilled, Lux was strong fast and had a weapon that was just better in every conceivable way to her pitiful dagger for a one-on-one fight. That and [Machine Learning] was constantly refining his spear skills. In Lux's hands was not a weapon or a tool at all. It was an extension of his body.

Qin Xuan was kept fully on the backfoot as Lux didn't even give her the opportunity to recover. She had barely regained her footing when she needed to dodge the lightning-fast thrusts of Lux's spear. And her dodge put her in exactly the position that he wanted her to be in to deliver another strike with the butt of his spear. Though this time it was a solid hit across both cheeks and with tremendous force behind it.

Lux smirked as she rolled away from him with tears in her eyes from the pain, "I told you I was gonna spank you." He said hefting the spear in his hands once more, "And that's one."

Qin Xuan tried desperately to fight back. But once Lux got to ten incredibly solid thwacks across her ass, she dismissed her weapon summoned up two beast souls. One was her Lion Shapeshifting one and the other was an incredibly rare Symbiote Type beast soul that fused with her lion form, making it grow and its claws lengthen. The people in the audience who were laughing uproariously at the display of utter domination that Lux had been putting on rapidly sobered up as Qin Xuan turned to go on the offensive.

Lux just flexed his wings and flew straight up into the air and let her flail after him for a while. Then he twirled the spear in his hands far above her and hurled it at her for all he was worth. The lionized Qin Xuan dodged to the side and swept her claws at the spear. Lux just dismissed it and resummoned it before throwing it again. And again, and again.

"Shameless coward!" Qin Xuan screamed at him as he threw the spear at he for the umptieth time.

"At least I don't go out of my way to ruin the lives of those weaker than me!" Lux yelled back, throwing the spear once more. It was kind of irritating, but he couldn't risk taking the bow out to fight at range. But part of spear fighting was in the throwing, and [Machine Learning] had made him very good at it.

A good deal of time had elapsed with Qin Xuan in her shapeshifted form that was further buffed up by the Symbiote Type beast soul. Shapeshifting beast souls were time limited based on the number of geno points one had in the same rank as the rank of the shapeshifting beast soul. So a person using a Sacred-Blood beast soul to transform would have ten minutes of transformation time if they had only ten Sacred-Blood geno points. If you had a Sacred-Blood shapeshifting beast soul and didn't have any sacred blood points not to worry. Mutant Geno points would count for half the amount of time at 30 seconds per point, then primitive at 15, ordinary only counted for 1 second though.

Qin Xuan had significantly lowered the amount of time she could stay shapeshifted by boosting the power of her Sacred-Blood lion transformation with a Symbiote. This kind of usage of beast souls was only for an emergency. But she had maintained it for nearly thirty minutes while Lux happily chucked his spear at her from on high where she couldn't do anything. She was running out of time.

"Lux come fight me like a man!" she shouted as she dodged yet another spear throw.

"The manliest thing a man can do is throw sharp sticks at dangerous beasts." Lux quipped back, then shouted as he threw once more, "I AM ALL THAT IS MAN!!"

After several more minutes, Qin Xuan reverted to her human form. Dodging back as Lux's spear came crashing into the ground from above once more. Honestly, Lux had been aiming for her limbs the entire time because he didn't actually want to kill her if he managed to impale her with his spear.

Qin Xuan growled out a curse and simply left the stage. Surrendering the match to Lux was humiliating to her, but she really didn't have anything that could match Lux without being able to fly. And even then, it would be up in the air. Lux's wings were top notch and faster than any other flying type beast soul she had ever seen or even heard about. She was beaten completely and utterly, and she knew it.

Lux's next match would be with Son of Heaven… But the fucker withdrew from the competition! Inconceivable! Lux wanted to get that prick in the ring and tear his heart out… It just meant that he would need to spend more time waiting for the opportunity to strike.

Lux was now the Chosen of the Steel Armor Shelter. In ten days, the inter-shelter competition of the Chosen would begin. The event was held in a place that had never been discovered before. Only the Chosen got teleported there from the Martial Halls of their Shelters on the day of the competition. The competition of the Chosen was exclusively one-on-one fights. And usually there were 100k Chosen. Meaning that there was at least 100k different Shelters that were populated by humans.

But now Lux had ten days to kill, and he wasn't exactly sure what to do with them. He would go out and hunt for more mutants, but the possibility of something strange happening and delaying him from returning to the Shelter in time for the competition was something that he couldn't ignore.

After thinking about it for a minute. Lux decided to head home and just practice his Sutras. And maybe attend one of the Old Devils classes on swordsmanship. As much as he hated that swords were glamorized to hell and back. Lux wasn't willing to forgo a learning opportunity for something that could very well save his life in the future… well, not save his life. But perhaps save someone else's life. So, Lux again had to go full paranoia mode and stealth his way to a place where he could be Han Sen again and then make his way back to his room and teleport out.

Teleporting out of the 1st Sanctuary, Lux was almost immediately confronted by Yang Manli who appeared to have been waiting for him.

"Han Sen! Where have you been?" She asked in an irritated tone.

Lux was confused, he hadn't needed to do anything with Bullseyes as far as he was aware. He glanced at his commlink and found a bunch of missed messages but didn't have time to read them as Yang Manli grabbed him by the hand and started walking towards the military facilities of the Teleportation station.

"Um… sorry? What's going on?" Lux asked with confusion.

"Your recommendation to Blackhawk Academy. We need to do some tests to make sure you pass the baseline minimums. Even on the Archery scholarship you are going to have to pass a certain threshold on the fitness scale." She said, "We should have done this assessment days ago. But its better late than never."

"I can honestly tell you that I pass the minimums. Last time I tested I scored a 10.0 and I know that is the requirement for those high-end schools." Lux said, not really wanting to go through the test here at the military station. There were certain things that couldn't be faked on the test. He could lower his strength, but there would be obvious signs like him not getting exhausted, and other things that just wouldn't add up.

"Doesn't matter, Qin Xuan wants you tested asap." Yang Manli said but she had a complicated look in her eyes when she looked at him. Usually, she looked at him with absolute disdain. But right now, there was something there that was never present before, though Lux couldn't really identify it with brief glance he'd gotten as she rushed them towards the testing facility.

Lux followed along and shrugged mentally. It really wouldn't matter if he displayed an abnormal level strength. He could easily claim it was a family secret Hyper Geno Art and that would be the end of the discussion. They would look into his family. Discover who his mother was related to and damn near immediately do an about face. No one wanted to offend the most powerful of the Demi-god humans after all.

Yang Manli set Lux up to run through the gambit of tests. And Lux didn't hold back. He went full tilt. The only thing he didn't do was use beast souls, because the tests were not supposed to use them anyway.

By the end Yan Manli looked astonished, "What is your Geno point count? How can you score a 14.5?"

Hearing his results Lux was very pleased. By the time he finished filling out his Mutant and Sacred Geno points he was going to end up being somewhere around the twenties as far as fitness went. But that was only if his Hyper Geno Art practice stagnated. If he could reach the first milestone of his newly improved Jadeskin, Lux was fairly certain that his fitness would reach a minimum of thirty with the four standard Geno Point types. He might be able to push his total fitness to something like 50 or maybe more with his Super Geno points maxed out.

Meanwhile, Yang Manli was in shock, and oddly aroused. She didn't understand why. But something about Han Sen was just different now. She didn't like him. She remembered what he had done to Qin Xuan. But something about him was just so very…

Manli shook her head and took a deep breath to try and get some control of herself. But it didn't help. Especially with Han Sen so close that she could smell him. She needed to leave and… clear her mind. She was suddenly very, very aware that Han Sen and her were alone in the training room together.

"I-I-I need to go. You pass!" Yang Manli said in a rush before hurrying out of the room.

Lux looked after her retreating form. He knew the look she had been giving him just before she decided to book it. That hunger was unmistakable. Was she turned on by strong men? Had his performance just riled her up somehow? Lux didn't really know. He just shrugged it off. If she wanted a piece of him, she would be very welcome to it. She had legs for days and was absolutely gorgeous. He would not mind giving her a tumble in the hey one bit.

Lux wasn't sure what exactly was going on with the test. But he shrugged it off and headed home. He had ten days to practice his Geno Arts, and program and graphically design candy crush. He should be pretty much set.

Arriving at home. Lux set about practicing his Jadeskin Sutra. [Machine Learning] was in the process of unraveling the mysteries of the Hyper Geno Arts and refining Sutras just for him. And he had learned enough to build a Hyper Geno Art that started from a regular-ass human and went all the way to infinity as far as he could tell. He called it The Way and sent it to his sister Han Yan to start practicing. Theoretically She could use that Hyper Geno Art to achieve godhood eventually, but it wasn't actually meant to do that, it was meant as a support Sutra that would slowly enhance the baseline over time. Lux didn't just send The Way to his sister. He published it on dozens of forums that were popular, freely disseminating it to the masses. It was a slow and steady build kind of Sutra. It was completely safe to practice too. It wouldn't be making anyone into overnight powerhouses, but it would raise the overall standard of human fitness levels before they even reached the age where they could enter the 1st Sanctuary if humanity adopted it. It would also prep people to really begin practicing a more powerful Sutra. It was perfect.

Lux spent the next ten days practicing the Jadeskin Sutra for 10 hours a day. Then working on his mobile app for the rest of the day. He was fairly certain that if he ended up making a popular time waster, that he would end up making billions. Selling his beast souls would be entirely useless then, but he could just farm some for a while and spread useful builds to people for free.

Lin Beifeng came over to visit Han Sen on the second day of his return home and he explained that Lux had told him about the hunt and how the man had stolen the last hit and let Han Sen take the blame. Then Beifeng gave Lux the Rust Monster Beast soul telling him that it was an apology gift from Lux. Beifeng then went on to tell him about he had talked with Son of Heaven and how Son of Heaven didn't give a shit about Sen anymore. The guy was now in Blood Feud mode against Lux and mobilizing all of his resources to try and figure out where he lives in the Alliance.

The day of the tournament of the Chose was here. Lux stood in front of the Martial Hall in his full armored regalia. Stronger than ever. His practice was going well. And he had been playing around on a game called the Hand of God. Hand of God was an entertaining diversion while doing his Jadeskin practice. But regardless, the tournament was here.

Lux approached a Stele that had risen from the center of the Arena floor and placed his hand upon it. There was a flash of light, and he was in a new place.
