Strange had never forgotten that those who played with time would eventually be played by time.

In 2023, the Avengers revived the dead, but there was a slip-up in 2014, which led to Thanos crossing over from that time, almost wiping out Earth.

Changing something would lead to an even worse outcome – this was the most common backlash.

Strange had predicted this outcome, and also knew that this sole chance of victory wasn't absolute.

If something went wrong, this one chance would become the end of all life in this universe.

Controlling time was a risky gamble.

So, the appearance of Knight, who didn't exist in this timeline, wasn't necessarily a good thing.

If it wasn't for the fact that the battle had just ended and he had yet to take back the Time Stone, Strange would've immediately recalculated the future.
