Malekith, who had returned home, was full of reluctance and despair at that moment.

"Why? Why didn't I even get one last chance?" he roared. The Aether surged wildly around him, kicking up a large amount of black dirt and turning the area hundreds of meters around him into darkness.

If he hadn't been in a hurry to charge out of Asgard, he wouldn't have come under fire so easily.

If he hadn't come under fire, he wouldn't have been sent flying into that temporary wormhole.

At the very least, he would have been able to make one last stand against the Earthlings' firepower.

This was a bet between whether he would destroy the Nine Realms first, or if the Earthlings would interfere with part of the outcome.

Even if the Aether only passed through Asgard, he could still severely damage or destroy most of that d*mn world. That way, at least, it wouldn't be considered a complete defeat.
