Chapter 1: chapter one.
It's been one month. One month since i lost my mother. How am i still alive? I've been asking myself that same question everyday.
I haven't ate in weeks. My arms are like twigs and I don't have the energy to get out of bed. My friends and family have been trying to call me, but what's the point. I have nothing to say, I feel completely numb.
A few people have tried to ring my doorbell , but I haven't made any effort to answer the door.
As i am laying in my bed, the sun starts peeking through my curtains. I decide to make myself get up to use the toilet. I finish washing my hands , I here a faint knock at my front door. I didn't plan on opening the door but the knocks got louder and my annoyance starting to grow.
I open the door, only enough so I can see who it is. It's him. It's lewis. 'Um hi' I say in a raspy voice. He takes a step forward with open arms. I find myself falling into his arms, as I drape my arms around him he starts hugging me. Soon I feel tears on my cheeks and on Lewis' shoulder. It feels nice to be holding him again. Me and Lewis have been friends for as long as I can remember. He was there for me when I had nobody else, but it comes as a shock to me when I opened the door to him. As I haven't spoken to him nor seen him in years.
Lewis is still holding me as he is walking me over to the sofa. 'It's okay' he says in a comforting voice. After a few minutes I start calming down. I wipe my eyes as a low whimper comes out of me. 'I'm so sorry about your mom and that I wasn't here for you. I just found out last night about her passing, I came as soon as I heard.' Lewis says with guilt in his eyes.
All I do is nod my head and snuggle my head into his chest. Some time passes and I fall asleep, I awaken to a voice in my kitchen. I sit up and see that I am now covered with a blanket and the tv is on. 'I can't come in today, a friend needs my help' I wonder who he is talking to. 'Yes. Yes. Okay bye' is the last thing i here before I lay back down quickly and shut my eyes. 'Harry' Lewis says as he is shaking my shoulders.
I slowly open my eyes and sit up. 'Who was that?' I ask the brown haired boy practically sitting on me. 'It was my work, but don't worry. I told them I wasn't coming in today.' I smile to myself knowing I didn't want him to leave anyways. Not knowing what to say , we sit in silence until Lewis sweeps away my fringe that is falling into my eyes. A deep red colour coming to my cheeks. 'You know pretty boy, you should really eat something'
I think to myself, when was the last time I even ate? As i am about to agree I look into his eyes. Those beautiful ocean blue eyes. Me and Lewis have always been flirty with each other, but it's always been in a friendly way. I might have a small crush on him. But it doesn't matter anyways. Lewis is straight, nothing could ever happen between us. 'What's going through your mind' Lewis says as he snaps me out of my thoughts. 'Nothing, nothing. Yeah, um. I should probably eat' Lewis laughs and nods his head.
Lewis decided to make me my favourite food, soup. My mom always made the best soup, every Sunday we would go to our coffee shop and come home to eat soup. Those days were always the best, not a care in the world. It was just my mom and I. She is well was my bestfriend. This past month has been hell without her. I finish my soup in minutes, I didn't realize how hungry I was until I took the first bite. 'How was it? I know it couldn't possibly live up to your moms but was it decent at least?' He asks with a small smile.
'It was good, thank you. I'm glad you are here'
'Your welcome. If you want to talk about it I'm here. I know how close you were with your mother' he says, with his hand over mine. I look down with shocked eyes, not knowing what to think about what he is doing. As soon as he notices my facial expression he pulls away his hand with a embarrassed look on his face. 'Sorry' he laughs a little while scratching the back of his head. I sit there a little upset that he pulled his hand away.
A few hours pass, I look over and see Lewis watching the movie on the screen intensely. We decided to watch 'pride and prejudice' a classic. Lewis has never seen it before which is shocking to me . Who hasn't seen 'pride and prejudice' . A yawn escape from my lips, Lewis notices. 'Okay pretty boy. That's my cue to leave' he says with a sad tone. I nod my head not wanting to seem desperate for him to stay. I walk him to the door with a limp in my walk. 'I liked this. It was nice seeing you. I am coming over tomorrow to catch up with you.' He says as he is wrapping me in a hug. I instantly hug him back breathing in his scent of vanilla. 'Bye pretty boy'
'Bye' i say with a small wave. I watch him pull out of the driveway. That was the best I've felt in weeks.
