Chapter 31: Conviction

"Haah.. haah," Jun panted while tremblingly holding a coral rock he had used to slam into the bullies head.

"AAAARRHH..," the spiky haired bullly screamed in pain while holding his head, trying to stop the bleeding. The other young man was stunned and looked at his boss, who rubbed his eyes hard, and his other friend, the spiked-haired man who was crying.

He then looked at Jun, suddenly enraged. Since when had they been embarrassed by a brat here? He looked around and located the machete his boss had dropped earlier and went to grab it. But how could Jun allow him?

"Eevee, double kick."

"Kyuu~"

Eevee swiftly ran and kicked the thug's back head, causing him to be thrown and finally fall down.

'You are lucky my Beldum is with my mother now,' Jun thought, then went to the boss and kicked him hard in the stomach, causing him to grimace.

Finally, Jun went to Lapras's side and took out a healing spray to heal its bruises on its skin and a potion. Looking at the black blood around Lapras, Jun's killing intent intensified.

'They must have poisoned Lapras, and judging from Lapras's appearance, it must be very traumatized,' Jun analyzed it carefully.

Lapras could only silently lie on the beach powerlessly. Even if it had been vigilant of Jun in the first place, it didn't have the energy to respond to Jun's approach.

The three thugs were thrown by Starmie's Hydro Pump and became unconscious. Jun was startled and looked back. After knowing what had happened, he became angry. 'I was too careless,' he blamed himself. Fortunately, there was a peeking man here. What if he was alone?

Jun stood up and kicked the thugs and then bent to search their bodies. He finally confiscated all the dangerous things they had brought here. After that, he went back to Lapras to take care of its wounds. Right now he could only heal Lapras wounds, but not the poison.

After everything was done, Jun sighed in relief. Lapras was stabilized.

"Thank you for saving me earlier, and also I apologize for being rude earlier," Jun bowed slightly his head to the peeking man.

The peeking man waved his hand, indicating that he was okay. "By the way, my name is Oda, but you can call me Fishing Gurus. What's your name, kid?"

Jun was startled and carefully looked at this peeking man, in a green jacket with a fishing hat and long trousers. Isn't this Fishing Brothers who give a fishing rod later?

"Hello, my name is Jun," Jun then introduced himself.

Ten minutes later, a police siren rang, and Officer Jenny with her car came slowly.

"You are the one who called?" Officer Jenny asked.

To Jun's surprise, there was also Nurse Joy tagging along. She hurriedly came to Lapras with her Chansey and did an emergency treatment on Lapras.

Soon, Jun and Fishing Gurus explained the entire accident, and Officer Jenny nodded.

"Handcuff them first," instructed Officer Jenny to her subordinates, before turning to Jun and asking, "Can one of you come with me for questioning?" she asked while looking at Jun weirdly, did he just slam him with coral rocks? Thankfully, the rocks were slightly blunt, or you could have caused serious harm.

"Let me go," volunteered the fishing guru. Since he had witnessed the entire incident, it was better for him to accompany Officer Jenny and vouch for Jun. Although Jun had been involved in the altercation with the bullies and had caused some injuries, the fishing guru as a witnesses claimed it was in self-defense.

"Alright then... Joy, are you done?" Officer Jenny asked Nurse Joy, who had tagged along.

"The wounds have already stopped bleeding, but the toxins need to be expelled. We need to bring Lapras to the Pokémon Center quickly," Nurse Joy explained.

"Alright then," Officer Jenny nodded and arranged for an ambulance truck for Lapras.

"By the way, Officer Jenny, if you look at Lapras' wounds correctly, you will find there were wounds due to rope ties. And if you look at Lapras' size, it must not be an adult yet. Based on Lapras' characteristics, a non-adult Lapras should not be alone. I suspect Lapras' herd is being hunted down!" Jun gave his analysis.

Officer Jenny, the fishing gurus, and Nurse Joy were surprised. 'Are the kids now this smart?' they thought.

Officer Jenny only smiled and patted Jun's shoulder. "You are right. I will contact the Alliance then."

Jun only nodded, and since his job here was over, he bid farewell to them.

After Jun left, Officer Jenny's expression became serious. She called someone. After the phone was connected, she said, "Code red. Pokemon poachers have already entered Kanto Vermillion City. Request backup from the Alliance and International Police. I am afraid this is Hunter J... Yes, I am sure... Thank you then... Bye."

Nurse Joy was surprised. "Are you sure it's Hunter J?"

Officer Jenny nodded. "I'd estimate it's about 80% likely. Since Lapras aren't native to the Sinnoh region, if Hunter J managed to capture a herd, she could sell them at a high price. Plus, yesterday we found traces of her in Cerulean Cave, so my conjecture is likely accurate."

Jun was frustrated. He felt helpless as he remembered Lapras, and he clenched his fists in anger. Originally, he had wanted to kill the bullies and vent his rage for Lapras, but his current situation reminded him that even with his influential grandfather, he was still subject to the laws of the Empire and the Alliance. He couldn't just kill anyone he wanted to without consequences.

Suddenly Jun eyes become sharp, However, it would be a different story if he were powerful enough. Powerful enough to ignore the rules of the Empire and the Alliance, maybe he could create an organization that was strong enough to rival not just the Empire, maybe even Team Rocket and Alliance itself.

"Kyuu~?" (◉ω◉)

As Jun held Eevee close, he whispered, "Yes, Eevee, we must remain strong. Strong enough to ensure our voices are never silenced, even by those in power, whether it be the Alliance or the Empire.
