Magic Proficiency Levels:

1. Novice

Requirements: Incantations & Hand Signs

Description: At this level, the sorcerer must recite incantations while performing precise hand signs or gestures to cast spells. Each spell requires verbal and physical focus, making casting slower and more prone to errors if disrupted.

Examples:

Shielding spells need clear chanting and the correct motion to form.

Simple teleportation requires a portal sigil drawn in the air while speaking its name.

2. Proficient

Requirements: Hand Signs Only

Description: A proficient sorcerer has mastered the necessary verbal components of spells to the point that they are no longer needed. With precise and practiced hand gestures, they can cast spells quickly and more efficiently, but still rely on their hands to channel magic.

Examples:

Conjuring magical weapons, such as the Eldritch Whip, requires only hand movements.

Opening portals to other dimensions or locations is faster, but still relies on forming the correct portal shape with gestures.

3. Adept:

Requirements: No Hand Signs or Incantations

Description: Adepts have advanced so far that their understanding of magic allows them to cast spells instantly, without needing physical gestures or incantations. They can harness magic directly through willpower and mental focus. This level greatly enhances speed and versatility in combat situations.

Examples:

Instantly summoning magical shields or barriers with just a thought.

Casting elemental attacks like fire or ice blasts without any motion, directly from their aura.

4. Mastery

Requirements: Spell Parameter Manipulation

Description: A master sorcerer can alter and manipulate the very parameters of spells to create custom effects suited to the situation. They can modify existing spells in terms of range, power, shape, or function. This allows for creative uses of magic that go beyond the spell's basic form.

Examples:

Expanding the radius of a protective shield to cover more allies or a larger area.

Slowing down time in a specific zone, like in The Sorcerer's Apprentice, to limit its impact and avoid wider consequences.

Melding two spells together, such as combining a teleportation spell with an invisibility cloak to sneak into a place undetected.
