Soon, Coulson arrived at the scene of the incident.
"Such a method of killing..." Coulson frowned as he examined Johnson's wounds.
Daniel spoke up, "SCP-096 has already killed three agents in the alley, and their injuries are similar to this one."
"Looks like it's definitely an anomaly," Coulson said as he stood up, his expression grave. To assassinate a top agent right under the noses of dozens of agents could only be explained by something supernatural.
"So... what are the characteristics of this anomaly?" Coulson pondered.
According to the Foundation's guidelines, each anomaly had its own abilities or rules. For example, SCP-307's rule was to never prey on cold-blooded animals and to use vines to engulf its victims.
Attack type?
But that didn't seem right…
Coulson glanced at the open window.
Fast speed? Uses long weapons? These wounds appear to be from some cylindrical object—maybe a baton or something similar?
Such rules?
Coulson began to consider the characteristics of the four deceased agents Johnson had brought.
Skin color?
That shouldn't be it; there was a Black agent among them.
Coulson felt a headache coming on. Understanding the killing patterns and characteristics of an anomaly without knowing much about it was nearly impossible.
"Mike was killed by something that twisted his neck from behind, right?" Coulson's eyes lit up with realization.
He suddenly understood something terrifying: there might be more than one anomaly involved in Hell's Kitchen. One that liked to twist necks from behind, and another whose patterns were still unknown.
"This needs to be reported!" Understanding the seriousness of the situation, Coulson didn't dare to linger and immediately turned to leave the scene.
He had to report this to the Director and then to the young President of the Foundation. If this was true, it was too terrifying.
Unaware of the grim fate narrowly avoided, Coulson returned to his office.
But Daniel was not so lucky.
"Is the computer on?" Daniel recalled that Johnson had planned to organize the video of the incident.
Curious, Daniel opened the laptop, which had been idle for a while and was now in sleep mode.
As the computer booted up, a horrifying, indescribable face appeared on the screen.
Seeing that terrifying face, even Daniel, who was usually composed, was startled.
"F*ck! What is this thing?"
"Could Johnson have been watching a horror movie in his quarters?"
"No, this seems to be a combat helmet's surveillance footage. Could it be..."
Daniel pulled out a chair and sat down, opening the video file to confirm.
It turned out that SCP-096, a deformed monster, was the killer. Was this a product of some lab experiment?
But if it was a case of silencing someone, why leave evidence?
Daniel was piecing together the events when a gust of wind brushed past him, followed by a fierce wind aimed at his neck.
As a top agent, Daniel reflexively ducked, narrowly avoiding a sneak attack from behind.
"Bang!"
Daniel's laptop was sent flying, crashing into the wall and shattering into pieces, causing a commotion among the SHIELD agents who had come to collect Johnson's body.
"There's a fight happening inside! The attacker hasn't left?"
Several agents drew their guns and burst into the room.
Daniel, who had narrowly evaded SCP-096's deadly strike, shouted as soon as his comrades arrived, "F*ck! It's this monster, this monster killed Johnson and the others!"
"What kind of monster is this?"
Seeing the grotesque SCP-096, everyone's hearts skipped a beat.
"Bang, bang, bang...!"
Without hesitation, four agents emptied a magazine into the creature.
Then they quickly reloaded.
Daniel took the opportunity to run out of the room and hide behind the four agents.
"This monster is really ugly!" one agent commented while reloading.
Daniel warned, "Bullets don't seem to affect this monster much. We need to call for backup!"
"Then hurry up and report to the boss!" an impatient agent urged.
Facing a monster that wasn't much affected by bullets, it was impossible not to feel anxious.
After all, even the best-trained agents were still just humans. With a creature that bullets couldn't kill, who could remain calm?
Daniel quickly grabbed the communicator to contact Coulson, but unfortunately, Coulson was currently reporting to the SHIELD headquarters, and the line was busy…
With a dark expression, Daniel could only reassure his team, "F*ck! The boss is unreachable right now. Hang in there; with all this gunfire, backup should arrive soon."
