Chapter 8: Entertainment
With the new money I got, I thought of things I want to purchase.
My wardrobe is now looking better and I don't need to spend credits on food, so my first thoughts were more droid parts, but I needed something to balance my work out with. Back on earth you had all kinds of entertainment, so I bought a holonet bracelet for 500 credits, which can let civilians use the local holonet transceiver of the planet.
I also saw it as a form of investment, but maybe that is my delusion to give my consciousness a reason to buy stuff. Who knows?
But to my distress the universal entertainment is really bad. At least in the online sector.
I mean it is one of the biggest market as people always pay to have more fun. Even music isn't that good. Sure the cantina song is nice, but most bar music is either instrumental or a female singers slow song like the 1920s.
And online was even less. Games are also uncommon.
I don't know how an universe this advanced in science, computers and programming didn't release a single good game.
Some IT-homework was creating a game from cratch.
Even specialised highschools would teach that.
Well on the good side, I could really earn some money with this.
Maybe financing my droids or my first spaceship wouldn't take years, but to be honest I must think about what to introduce.
Don't want them to get bad ideas from fiction.
So to make notes in my bought communicator, I first made it better against hacking and computer viruses. At the end I even used a code from earth to decipher my messages and notes.
What could I introduce?
In the game category, sport games fall out as they wouldn't know the sport.
Shooting games wouldn't work as nobody here wants violence as enjoyment when everyone here is at war or sees shootings on normal days.
So maybe something simple like arcade games are a good option.
It started on earth with Pac-Man, Snakes and the like.
A building game similar to Minecraft would also be good.
Music is harder for me. I am not a musician and would know how to do a rhythm, but I enjoyed some as background. At my training for space, I had a lot of physical workouts and used Rock to keep on my toes.
So releasing some lyrics or voice samples could work.
At least there is hope?
Now to the last part, that could be used first. At least for me.
Books or stories. I read quite a lot of online novels as a teen and on my day to work, so writing down a story shouldn't be that hard.
At worst I just write down some storys I have seen before.
From children books over teen adventures all the way to comedy or fantasy.
But I had something specific in mind. Based on this universe, just the history long forgotten in archives: SWTOR. I didn't want to release it as a game, but wanted the story to be known.
But those were my notes and I still wanted to think about it a little more.
So with the rest of the money I go to another shipping trip with Te'su.
I got the wracks of 2 GNK-power-droids for 600 credits and 3 DUM-droids, who only cost 100 credits together.
I didn't see anything else that stood out, so the rest was used on parts.
One of the GNKs needs a bit more attention as I guess he had a short circuit, because of bad maintenance.
GNKs are mobile power stations, that a lot of people use. And especially in this district are a lot of buyers, but most just buy new ones as getting a second-hand droid can be a risk, like cars on earth. It could be good or have troubles you aren't aware of when you buy it.
And so the weeks go buy. Working, repairing and making notes and plans.
