Chapter 24: The Royal Invitation
As the sun rose over New Ottawa, the Ghost picked up King Reesharon in his new Autowa car and drove to breakfast at the New Chalet. While they ate, a royal messenger arrived for the Ghost and the other New Ottawan Nobles.
This is a surprise. Care to join me for Breakfast messenger?
If I had the time. Noblemen Ghost of Ottawa, you and the other nobles of New Ottawa have been formally invited to attend Ashfeld's Royal Ball. The first prince is looking to choose a wife before he ascends to the throne.
Normally, I'd decline, but tell the King I shall be in attendance.
As the messenger left, the Ghost smiled to himself. This will be an interesting evening.
As the Elven King departed for home, the Ghost went to see Juno in regards to an upgrade she had made.
Lady Juno, I heard you'd wished to see me?
Yes, I have been making something that should be a better replacement for the mask you are currently wearing.
Why?
The current mask limits you. This new one is far superior and can be customized with a number of formal wears.
The Ghost unlocks the mask and removes it from his face. The paint had all but wore off or faded, there were crimson stains from his own blood he'd coughed up upon receiving his injury from Rothschild. As Juno helped him put on the new mask, it auto-adjusted to his face and mouth. Two small needles were pushed directly into two veins within his jawline.
Does it fit alright?
It fits just fine. Tell me, why do I sound slightly different?
Adjust the knobs on either side of the mask. They control how you sound.
With a few adjustments, the Ghost sounded like himself.

As the Ghost of Ottawa left the lab, he walked slowly to his home. Upon opening the door, the smell of blood oranges wafted past his nose as if they were inviting him inside.
He climbed the stairs to his room where demon maids awaited him.
Please pull out my best suits. In the meantime, I shall bathe and freshen up.
As you wish sir.

As the Ghost closed the bathroom doors and began to strip. Activating the water runes, he was stepped into the shower. The water washed away the dirt and grime of the day, as if it was cleansing him of impurity. The Ghost breathed heavily in the new mask, which was waterproof. After a few minutes, the water shut off and the ghost re-entered the room in some shorts.
The demon maids had laid out the finest suits Sir Bell had tailored for him. After all, Bell's shop had been in Ottawa for over one hundred years, so why not remain a loyal customer to them. After he tried a few on, he decided on a black vest, a red, long coat, and black slacks with red strips. The maids helped him get the New Ottawan Noble cufflinks on and adjust his bowtie.
Why a bowtie sir?
It pays homage to an old nickname I was given years ago.

As dusk began to grip the sky, the Ghost arrived to pick up Lord Pat of the Eastern District of New Ottawa. As the guards escorted him to the Autowa car, the citizens watched as their noble walked down dressed in a golden long coat, a cream vest and a black bowtie. He has dressed for the very occasion.
Good evening Lord Pat.
Evening Lord Ghost, shall we meet up with Kenji and Brittany?

The car rumbled down the streets towards the entrance of New Ottawa. Brittany and Kenji had chosen to by horse-drawn carriage to the ball. As they awaited the royal escorts, the ghost checked his grandpa's pocket watch. The time was Five till Seven and the ball started in over an hour.
As the Royal escorts arrived, the Nobles of New Ottawa left for the Royal Ball, all ready to show the Kingdom of Ashfeld what New Ottawan class looked like.
