A day after the Ghost had died, everyone was wearing black. The many people who the Ghost had saved, fought alongside and had died for were seated or standing within the cathedral. His body was in a casket, lifeless, quiet, and with a look of peace as his expression.
Death... Death is simply the end of life. However, even when faced with a fatal wound, the Ghost of Ottawa denied Death his victory. In his own words... "I REFUSE TO DIE!" We all watched as the Ghost struggled against his mother, and a few of you saw him best world conquerors, tyrants, and hell, even a god. The Ghost asked me to read you all a letter, kind of a "Speaking to you all after I'm gone" deal. Said Reverend Everett as he unfolded the letter.
My dear friends, family, and those of you I hadn't gotten to speak with yet, I couldn't have been more proud of you all. You smiled, you made me feel like I could conquer any foe standing in my way, even death. If you are hearing this, that must mean Death and I made a deal. Seriously, because all of you know I run off of spite and refused to die without knowing you'd all be safe and happy. While I am gone, and tears run down your cheers, know that I did everything I could to make you all happy, keep you all safe, and to make you all smile. While I regret I am not here to crack this joke one last time, I hope Reverend Everett delivers it best... What did the farmer say when he lost his tractor? Where's my tractor!
The crowd lightly chuckled at the awful joke.
Hopefully some of you laughed, I know my dad is shaking his head, but he'll get over it. When I look back on all my actions, I see blood soaked hands. However, when I am standing at your sides, I saw hope, I was life and something worth all that blood. Hell, I'll come out and say it... Thank you all for being so cool! I truly am grateful for the best friends and family ever....
The Ghost often asked me if I thought he was gonna get sent to hell. I always told him to keep his head focused on the things he could control. I have no doubt he isn't in hell, but I am not sure where he is. I can only hope he has been reunited with Patricia May. May he rest in peace.
May he rest in peace. repeated the crowd as Tempest, Overlord, Inferno, Bubba, Blades and Archie walked to the front as the clerics closed his casket. As they grabbed hold of the casket rails, they began to walk the Ghost of Ottawa out of the cathedral.
As they made it outside, Knights of the Royal Guard and soldiers of the 451st raised their weapons in a sign of solidarity to their fallen hero. As they marched his body down the steps, citizens of the various allied nations had gathered in a line to watch the Ghost make his final voyage.
Papa? Where is the hero?
Son... He sacrificed himself to save all of us, to end the reign of terror that plagued his lineage.
As the precession made its way to the royal graveyard, soldiers set up nearby. As the casket was place on a stand in front of his grave, Reverend Everett stepped forwards.
As we lay you to rest, Ghost have no fears, no worries, nothing that would pain your heart. We all will carry on your legacy, we will rebuild this world better than when we arrived, better than the way you saw it.
As Reverend Everett finished speaking, the Assassin turned to his troops.
PRESENT...ARMS! TAKE AIM....FIRE!
Gunshots punch through the silent air. Soft sobs could be heard as the six began to lower the Ghost's casket into the ground.
I swear upon your Ghost, I will live up to the expectations you set for me. said Tempest as they dropped a single white rose onto the casket, now resting in the ground.
As everyone was ushered out of the cemetery, a soft rain began to fall, however, this was a rain the Ghost loved, a warm rain, as if he was smiling on everyone.
