There are a lot of horrible things going on with Mark that go back ages—so much that it's hard to wade through all of it, but thankfully I don't end up having to. The part that concerns the Bratva rises to the surface. That's all I need. I don't need the entirety of his life's wrongs. 

Mark owes tens of thousands of dollars to those men who were here the other night. He has a drug problem, and he's not able to get control of it. So, he's been borrowing money. He has also been desperately searching for creative ways to pay Daniel and them back, and one of those ways crossed his mind when he was giving me the tour. In other words, one of those creative ways of paying off his debt involved me.
