Continuing our sexual-tinged banter, I batted my eyes and whispered (as if I didn't want my mommy to know how grown up I really was) "Wellll, I do love the proteins!"

Not letting the situation get to charged, my mother said: "Thanks for bringing her by to study with Erica! If you go through that doorway, You can put those bags on the kitchen counter. I'm Donna by the way."

"I'm Patrick."

"Nice to meet you Patrick. After we eat, the girls will study and I'll bring Grace home midnight-ish," my mother said as Patrick disappeared into the kitchen.

Reappearing shortly, he said: "Not a problem. Dad's still working and won't be home until 1 or after so I'll still be up anyway if you'd prefer me to pick her up."

"Oh, I'll bring her home. It's no bother; plus they may finish early and decide to watch a movie or something and I'll get her home. No need to rush them with a set time or anything."
