Chapter 15: I'm The Boss And You Are My Worker!

"Sigh, you two pester me too much! Fine…" Leslie sighed exasperate, a cold scowl on her face as she tapped her feet on the ground, her hands on her waist, "I will tell you many things common in a higher ranked area, and how they apply to the lower ranks— and the first is corruption."

Bob reached a finger to a dead goblin on the floor, its body was covered in a strange golden glow and it twitched uncontrollably. Leslie turned to him, and her ghost nearly escaped her body, "Do not touch that! That thing will burn you to a crisp!"

"Why isn't the goblin barbecue then?" Freya asked, pointing to the writhing goblin with a frown on her face. She had asked this woman a simple question, and Leslie decided to roast goblins, "How do the burning goblins relate to the corruption you mentioned?"

"Hmm…" A vein popped on Leslie's head, and she giggled, turning to the goblin. She heaved for a few seconds, then pointed at the goblin with her finger, "Look at it closely, is it burning? Every damn monster in this place is consumed by the shadow god's corruption."

"How does that relate to—" Freya opened her mouth to speak, but stopped as Leslie threw her a dirty glare. She rolled her eyes to the side, wondering what hole this woman crawled out from.

"The corruption on its body fights the fire, but since Bob has no corruption energy he would get burned in an instant." Leslie cleared her throat, "I don't expect you to to understand at with how the corruption is weaker at lower areas, but this is common knowledge."

"So, what's the purpose of this corruption?" Bob asked, standing to his feet. He lowered his gaze to the goblin, then sighed. Leslie cleared her throat to answer him, and he lifted his gaze to stare.

"To cage us, of course. The stronger the corruption's grasp, the weaker we become. Once we lose all our will, we would become prisoners here forever." Leslie held her chin, shaking her head, "I have seen some people get turned into monsters from the corruption alone!"

"I've been here all my life… does this mean…" Freya was not impressed by the knowledge, and it opened a dangerous chapter for her, "Does this mean that it would be impossible for me to leave the dungeon? I don't get it…"

"Well, that's your cup of tea." Leslie rolled her eyes, turning around to leave. Freya did not stop her, watching as she walked away with her hands on her waist, "When you get to the higher ranks, you will see things for yourself."

As she walked away, Bob called out to Leslie, "Wait!"

Leslie turned around, a brow raised, "Is there a problem? The abhorrence is cut down, so I need to return to my area. Things are tougher up there. If you want, we can meet again once things cool."

"We both know they never will." Freya sighed, watching as the azure wolf rolled on the ground, bored to death. The door had disappeared and no monsters had spawned, "Then again — I am no longer a weakling! I will go see for myself."

"That's a great idea!" Leslie snapped a finger, and a door appeared beside her, gleaming in a faint blue light. As the door creaked open, Freya and Bob took a peak inside, and they were disappointed by the darkness, "It can only carry one at a time. Okay, here's the plan."

"Plan?" Bob who had his head bowed in silence, suddenly perked up, "Are we going to hunt the stronger monsters of higher areas? How much XP do they give? What's the highest levelled monster you've ever seen?"

"Once you get to Area Nine, then I will come pick you two clueless babes up. Hopefully by then, I guess, you would know enough to not touch a goblin shrouded in light energy. If its strong monsters you want, you won't be disappointed."

"I look forward to it." Bob sighed, then he turned to Freya, "I guess we should leave as well. We have our own plans, and if we get to work quickly then we can quickly eat up this labyrinth and get to the outside world! I want to see the sunlight…"

"Sunlight?" Freya asked, her brows furrowing. She stared at Bob as if he just mentioned the core formula of a unique nuclear power source reactant! But, he was so strange she thought little of how much weird things he could reveal.

Bob stood there, blinked twice, then turned to Leslie, "You don't know what that is? The big ball of fire that is in the sky? The one that gives heat and light to the whole world? It's… uh… colourful?"

"The myths tell of something familiar but I have never seen sunlight for myself." Leslie shrugged, and she furrowed her brows seeing Bob's confused expression, "Most of us were born in the prison, so we have ever seen the sun. I guess it is something worth fighting for?"

"I'm sure it is." Bob held his chin, turning his gaze away to hide the light in his eyes. He lifted his gaze and waved back as Leslie stepped in through the door, wearing a cold smile as the door closed and the area descended into silence, "Let's go, Freya."

"Huh? But, I haven't packed yet!" She stared at him, narrowing her eyes. Bob ignored her, turning around and walking away as the azure wolf rolled over to follow. Freya blinked, "And you, dog— Bob, what's the name of your pet? Can't we ride him?"

"His name is demon lo— Aquarius! He is the demon Aquarius." Bob cleared his throat then lifted his gaze to the azure wolf's back. Bob imagined riding the wolf's back, then it decides that it does not want to be a wolf anymore, but a bird — A bird knocking into the ceiling trying to fly, "Nah, I'd walk."

"What? This wolf would be more efficient than both our legs!" Freya laughed, and this made Bob stand and stare at her with a blank face. He watched as Freya approached, and tried to climb up the wolf, but it continued to walk forward and completely ignored her, "Hey! Tell your wolf to carry me!"

"Are you commanding your boss?" Bob stared at her, his brows knitted tight.

"No, sir!" Freya shouted, standing at attention.

"Then, my bom— worker, we walk!"
