Chapter 23: Worth to Persistence

"She's just such a burden." Alice's brother was saying. "I don't know how much longer I can put up with her. She's always causing problems and making things difficult for me."

Kay didn't expect Alice's own brother talks about her own sister like that. Still, he was not particularly moved by the situation.

With the swiftness of his mind, Kay slowly approached Alice's brother with the intention of gathering more information. He moved as stealthily as he could, but something about the situation felt strange.

It was as if Kay was being pierced by repeated intimidating stares.

In the end, Kay decided to retreat and slowly walked away. At least he had gathered some information. He thought to himself as he made his escape.

As the dawn of a new day broke over the horizon, Kay was awakened by the familiar beeping of his system alert. Groggily, he sat up in bed and rubbed his eyes, trying to shake off the remnants of sleep.
