My legs carried me as far as they could to hide behind the muscle car, which I doubt was going to do much of a change, being that the helicopters were still looming over with their blades singing like trumpets. Castillo looked up, not exactly pleased, while Devin and the rest continued to gaze at the battalion of helicopters, which multiple began to land.
But not where as intended.
They flew past me, their flashlights not even nearing my area, which they went over to the hill ahead, where the smoke continued to wave its gassy hands, tending to the car that had fallen onto their sides.
"I don't think this is from us, y'all," Andre said loudly over the overbearing noises of the flying engines, which his mouth was still agape in worry but awe.
"Stay hidden," Brie muttered. "Just stay."
