They had hidden the news of his planned execution until after he'd already escaped. As far as the military was concerned, a cadet alone in the wilderness had no chance of survival.

She'd done what she could to aid him with supplies, but as the days turned to weeks with no news, she'd begun to fear that the authorities were right and that all of her children were as good as dead.

Still, she had kept working on his case and kept holding onto hope. Because she knew if anyone could survive the dangers of the wild, it was Ray.

What an absolute joke it would be for him to survive all that and end up killed by his own side.
