Chapter 22: Seventh Extraordinary Meridian
Bronze Rules Over All!
This is a supreme Qi Technique, on par if not stronger than Ximen Wei's Xi Technique Bedevilment. However, unlike Bedevilment, Bronze Rules Over All does not boost the caster's mental and physical faculties, instead, if coast the opponent in a metallic bronze layer that'll seal him in place.
Just like an ink droplet in clear water, the area Shao Rong gripped started turning into a metallic brown hue, slowly spreading across Ximen Wei's shoulders into his chest, neck, face and eventually, it'll spread all over Ximen Wei's body!
Seeing this, Ximen Wei started struggling frantically. He had a feeling that if bronze managed to cover his entire body, a fate worse than death will befall upon him!
His palm hit Shao Rong's right arm, yet nothing happened, the arm did not bulge at all and only a bruise could be seen in the area of the attack.
Ximen Wei let out a defiant roar as he started kicking Shao Rong's chest viciously, he was grabbed up in the air, so his legs had the perfect view of his opponent's chest.
He kicked and kicked, until a cracking noise rang out. Blood dripped from Shao Rong's mouth as his ribs were broken in half, yet that didn't stop him from continuing on his Technique.
Bronze kept spreading across Ximen Wei's body, making it's way into his neck and upper chest area. If it reached his head, then the situation will become unsalvageable and even if he escaped Shao Rong's grip, the same fate will still befall him.
So despite breaking Shao Rong's ribs, he still kept kicking frantically with his legs until a bloody hole could be seen. He reached out his arms towards Shao Rong's face, thumbs on his eye sockets as he tried to gauge them out!
A miserable scream rang out as blood rushed out like a fountain from Shao Rong's eyesockets, the old man lost his vision! However, his arms did not bulge and his attack was not interrupted in the very least, instead, it kept spreading faster and faster.
The bronze layer already covered Ximen Wei's upper chest and neck area, now it's making it's way towards his stomach and face!
Faint bits of bronze could be seen in Ximen Wei's chins, spreading at a speed visible to the human eyes towards his mouth, nose, eyes and ears!
Ximen Wei's eyes were blood-shot, and add to it his crimson pupils, he looked like a blood divinity obsessed with a devilish will that seemed to disregard everything in the world.
Blood poured down from Ximen Wei's orifices as he too was planning to go the lengths of self-sacrifice, overexerting his body to cast a Qi Technique!
"Qi Technique - Iron Fist!!"
Ximen Wei punched Shao Rong's face viciously, disfiguring in such a way that even if his mother were to be alive and look at him, she wouldn't recognize her own son!
Seeing that one punch was not enough to make Shao Rong bulge, he kept punching and punching until eventually, the effects of Bronze Rule Over All stopped!
Shao Rong's knees gave away as he collapsed on the ground, his face nothing but a mass of mangled flesh and blood, some bone could even be seen protruding out from some areas. Obviously, the iron grip that held firmly onto Ximen Wei is no more, releasing him from his hands.
Seeing Shao Rong die, Ximen Wei finally let out a long sigh of relief.
The effects of Bronze Rule Over All were terrifying to the extreme, the bronze layer already reached all the way to his mouth, if it kept spreading any longer, he would be in unprecedented mortal danger.
He reached onto his pockets and pulled out a small vial that had a red liquid in it, this was the last potion he had on him. He looked left and right, wary of his surroundings as he unhesitantly gulped it down.
If an enemy were to attack him at this moment, he would be in quite the predicament, so he drank down the last remaining potion he got from Dongfang so he can have the energy to run for his life lest something unexpected happens.
After all, this was a world riddled with unknown dangers.
After drinking the potion, Ximen Weo looked towards Shao Rong's corpse with anticipation and expectations, waiting for the white smoke to come out.
Unsurprisingly, a white smoke came out from Shao Rong's lifeless body.. However, compared to the white smoke that came out from the mortals' bodies, this one was thicker, denser and had way more energy.
It swirled around for couple seconds, seemingly searching for it's target, then once it found Ximen Wei standing there under the rain, covered in washed-out blood, it shot towards him at super fast speed, entering his nostrils, mouth, eyes, ears and every single pore in his body.
Instantly, Ximen Wei felt unprecedented strength course through his veins, exciting literally every single cell in his body. His perception grew sharper and his cultivation base improved by leaps and bounds.
Most importantly, the 99% complete seventh Extraordinary Meridian in Ximen Wei's body trembled violently, it absorbed all the energy from Shao Rong, leaving behind only a scrap that went into healing Ximen Wei's injuries and boosting his mental and physical faculties.
Then, in front of Ximen Wei's expectant eyes, his seventh Extraordinary Meridian finally took that last step! Going from illustory to solid! From incomplete to complete!
BOOM!
Ximen Wei felt as if an invisible explosion rang out inside, he felt sharp pain all over his body but it went away quickly. When he checked back, he found his seventh Extraordinary Meridian completely open, laying there inside his body like a majestic river.
Seeing his seventh Extraordinary Meridian, Ximen Wei almost jumped with excitement!
He knew that the more Extraordinary Meridians he had, the faster his cultivation progress would be, and the stronger his cultivation base would be!
Plus, the amount of Qi Techniques he can unleash right now increased from four to five! He can push himself to the limits and cast up to six Qi Techniques, albeit with a small injury.
However, the most important part is his future prospect in the road of cultivation!
People who only opened one Extraordinary Meridian are not destined to become Qi Cultivators, the most they can reach is the second level of Qi Trainees.
On the other hand, people who opened two to three Extraordinary Meridians can only reach the third level of Qi Trainees, even Qi Ascension is nothing but a dream to them.
However, people who opened four to five Extraordinary Meridians have the chance to become Qi Experts, yet the most they can achieve is the peak of the first rank.
Some rare cases can breakthrough to the second rank, however that'll require a tremendous amount of resources and good fortune.
People who opened six and seven, with enough time and hard work, can easily reach the second rank of Qi Expertise. Plus the third rank is also possible, but that'll depend alot on the cultivator's hard work, fortune, resources and luck. In fact, even the fourth rank is not entirely impossible, however, just like people who opened four to five Extraordinary Meridians, it'll need a tremendous, mind-boggling amount of cultivation resources and external aid.
Yet, compared to the true stars of the Qi World, the people who have eight Extraordinary Meridians opened are considered the most precious human resources to the various Qi organizations and powerhouses.
Every other amount of Extraordinary Meridians opened pale in comparison to people who opened eight or more Extraordinary Meridians, given enough time, they can reach the fourth rank of Qi Expertise, becoming an illustrious Qi Lord who have thunder and wind at his beck and call.
They can even become Qi Paragons, rank five Qi Experts who can flip mountains and drain rivers just by waving their hand.
People who have opened eight Extraordinary Meridians are rare even in the entirety of the Divine Star Continent, they are the precious gems and jewels of organizations, and if nurtured properly they'll shake the continent and become revered figures feared by many.
That's why these people are referred to as Dao Children and Chosen of Heaven and Earth, these people are pampered by the very world they live in.
Currently, Ximen Wei was only one Extraordinary Meridian short from these so-called Dao Children and Chosen, to people, just that one Extraordinary Meridian is a great chasm that can not be opened, a tall mountain that can not be passed. However, to Ximen Wei, he 100% confident that he'll open it!
Why? Because he was still a Level 1 Qi Trainee!
He was destined to open it the moment he opened his sixth Extraordinary Meridian, with each breakthrough between the levels of Qi Trainees, one can open an Extraordinary Meridian!
So technically, Ximen Wei was able to open up to eight Extraordinary Meridians before Qi Ascension, however, because of the White Devil's legacy, giving him the ability to absorb the Qi and blood of the victims he killed, he opened his seventh Extraordinary Meridian without relying on the energy of his breakthrough.
Currently, Ximen Wei is able to open up to nine Extraordinary Meridians without relying on external aid!
It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say his future prospects were limitless!
With nine Extraordinary Meridians, he can rule above all and reach the ultimate peak of the Qi World, the Qi Paragon rank!
Under the rain, Ximen Wei looked at Shao Rong's corpse with his lifeless cold eyes, then he turned back and looked the littered corpses of almost 20 innocent mortal villagers, some of them died painlessly and some of them died horribly.
No matter where this happens, Ximen Wei's actions would be considered unforgiveable and beyond redemption, whether it'd be in this world or Earth.
No one would be able to sleep peacefully after committing such a merciless act, even Ximen Wei is no exception, on his journey, he had countless nightmares that made him unable to sleep at night.
He dreamt of the people he killed, especially the poor innocent children he slaughtered in the Song family's dungeon, their souls haunted him in his sleep, no matter what he did, he couldn't escape them. He can still vividly remember them asking..
"Why did you kill us?"
"Why didn't you leave our bodies intact?"
"Why didn't you take us with you?"
...
Ximen Wei shoved these nightmares onto the back of his mind, he did not want to think about them, if he did, his performance and mental state will plummet to the ground, however, he couldn't help but recall his nightmares once he saw the littered bodies of the villagers.
He took a deep breath as he closed his eyes, trying to meditate and calm down, yet he couldn't help but hear small whispers, they were so faint that if you didn't pay close attention to them, you wouldn't hear them.
"My son!! My son!!! Why did you kill my son!!!!"
"WHYYY DID YOU MURDER ME???"
"My daughter sob sob... she did nothing to you, why did you have to go ahead and kill her?"
"Why did you have to take my papa and mama?"
All sorts of whispers could be heard, some of them were angry, some of them were sobbing and some of them were confused.
Ximen Wei opened his eyes and let out a heavy sigh.
"The dead souls of the villagers will haut me now... right?"
Ximen Wei chuckled self-mockingly, he looked up at the sky, gazing the endless clouds that filled the sky. Droplets of rain landed on his face, sliding down his cheeks and falling to the ground.
"I'll go back to Earth, no matter what, even if that means discarding my humanity and becoming a devil."
Ximen Wei was already suppressing his feelings to the extreme, even tho it's his first time committing such acts of massacre and murder, he didn't flinch even for a second.
It's not because he's cold and heartless, in fact, he already has human feelings, and they run deep... deep for his family and loved ones back in Earth. However, his actions could be explained due to his obsession... his obsession knows no end, to the level where it overpowered any other human feeling his heart, replacing it with one goal and only one goal.
Go back to Earth! Meet up with family and loved ones! Apologize to her and... deliver the promise!
