Chapter 3: Theft

"Excuse me? Who are you?"

"Will you look at this naughty thing? After giving you a place to sleep and food to eat you seem to have gotten quite comfortable, haven't you?"

It was hard to understand what this man was saying, it was really hard. A place to sleep? Food to eat? I looked back toward where I was laying before the man came to disturb my peace in hell. It was hay stacked, I looked at the man again.

"Are you the grim reaper?"

"Uh? Grim reaper? Would you look at that? looks like you've been having a good dream! Anyways, I don't care. Prepare yourself, we are leaving soon." He said and turned back grumbling.

It was then my eyes opened to the sight before me. It was truly something to behold, something in line with the imagination I created when I often read these fantasy novels. It felt really different, the wooden smell of the atmosphere, the soft voices of children and sellers. It was truly magnificent. The gentle breeze once again blew past my skin, it was chilly but comforting. I looked at myself, the armless off-white jacket I was wearing was absurd. I've never judged my fashion sense because as a civil servant, I didn't need anything apart from suits.

My steps drew nigh to the brick-layer edifice the man had walked into earlier. The stench and heat that oozed from within irritated me to the core, the stench was on another level. How unkempt can one be for it to be this bad?

"What are you doing there? Come in!"

His authoritative tone was once again annoying me. I might not be much in life but I stick by my principles, this man is infuriating me, with his dirty thick beard and bald head.

"We have to reach the Maxnor duchy before nightfall and it's almost noon. I have no time to waste." He said while packing up. He finally came outside and looked at me, his eyes were not looking up which was quite weird. I am quite tall, like really tall, 198cm, so why the hell isn't he looking up.

He laid his rough and dirty hands upon my hair and patted me.

"It might be hard when you get there. But I'm not selling you, it's the least I can do for you, I can't take care of a kid, I can barely even feed myself. It might be tough but I want you to grow into a fine young man."

His words for some reason made my heart sink, it was a strange feeling, like my heart was not mine, I don't care if I got sold, my father had lived his life not giving a shit about me and my mother died when I was fourteen.

"I know selling off a thirteen-year-old cruel might sound cruel to you but it's for your good."

"Wait! What did you just say?" I almost missed that part I heard thir-something but I couldn't bear to.

"...Don't spoil my mood you damn brat?!" He replied and dragged me into his arms, hugging me tightly. It was indeed stinky.

I couldn't deny the fact that I just heard him say thirteen, my instinct immediately told me to look in the mirror.

He lifted a bag filled with swords and walked to the backyard, where I was coming from.

I immediately ran inside, even though the heat and the entire atmosphere were crude, I didn't fuxking care because, how on earth? how on earth am I supposed to be a thirteen-year-old kid?!!

Finally, I found a mirror, even though it had split. It was helpful.

"Golden hair... red eyes... I couldn't believe it, I've only read about it, I've never heard it happen. This face, the hair colour, this is so unreal." My hands ran over my face and hair and my eyes widened with unbelief or should I say this guy's eyes widened with unbelief.

~Fuuu~

The situation called for a sigh hence I obeyed.

"So let's get this straight... I am in a fantasy world, in a body that's not mine. What's it called again..." after a few seconds of racking, something clicked. "TRANSMIGRATION! I transmigrated to a fantasy world?!"

"What are you doing in there and why are you shouting?! Are you that despaired about being sold off?"

~Sigh~

The old man walked into the smithy, "I understand, it's always hard at first but you won't regret it."

"Thank you, thank you for selling me off..."

He was surprised, he was so surprised, anybody would be, who would expect a thank you for being sold off... well except he was in a position like mine before being transmigrated. But right now, I need to be on my own! I need to get away from everything this guy had going on. As much as I felt so sorry for the little boy whom I was stealing his life, I couldn't deny that I felt so happy for myself.

He hugged me tightly once again, this time sobbing.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I wish you had met a better uncle..." he said, sobbing profusely and my heart sank, which felt weird but it's fine since this is one of the reasons why I had to run away from the life he lived.
