Chapter 60: Reward And Schemes

"I apologize it took me this long to come back, I had to settle some things on my end." The distortion in my voice vibrated the air around as I spoke gently or at least intended to be.

"It is alright, Sir Ardor, we know a man of your calibre probably has a lot to take care of. Words of your overpowering victory have reached us." The guild manager said, gently smiling, his gentle voice somehow accommodated well his face, he was slim and a lot of wrinkles were on his face but he had his charm.

"Then, shall we head up to discuss details," He said.

It was a privilege to have him receive me but something seemed off. I put away my suspicions and decided to follow him. On reaching the higher floor, he stopped.

"I'm sorry, this is the place I am allowed to reach." He said.

"What is that supposed to mean?" I asked him, my face squinted and for some reason, I couldn't help but access my suspicions in that situation.
